We Peter Bishop fans have been watching Peter play second fiddle to Olivia and Walter long enough and we're not gonna take it anymore! So without further ado I am announcing the inception of PB's Peter Bishop Uber-Appreciation Society!

This thread will be a haven for all of Peter Bishop's REAL fans and any and all manner of Peter Bishop awsomeness! When Peter brings the awesome, or the super sexy, or even the mundane, I want you to post about it here. Because why should Olivia and Walter get all the love??? Peter's WAY prettier than Olivia, look at those sexy come hither eyes!

And, Peter is way cooler than boring stick in the mud Walter, and he's super smart too!!! So come on in and post some Peter Bishop Appreciation screen caps and tell me why YOU love Peter Bishop. And don't forget to check in weekly after new episodes of Fringe and let everyone know how Peter brought the AWESOME!

Anna Torvs page got like 4 pages while only three people commented on this one. That's why I didn't post my own thread, nobody will post in it. It doesn't help either that this page is made from pure sarcasm.

Josh NEEDS to play a double or else he would be less and less appreciated.

This thread was created not even two days ago; as with any newborn thread, post accumulation takes time.

And how dare you undermine the validity of this Peter Bishop appreciation thread with your venom! Yet you have the nerve to even call yourself a Joshua Jackson/Peter Bishop fan.:rolleye0014::P

In other news, I am fond of JJ/PB (both the character and the thread-starter). At long last, I can express my unadulterated love for all that is Joshua Jackson and his work in the role of Peter Bishop! :love0046::love0046::love0046:

All things set aside, you have two choices: enjoy watching the show and discussing many different aspects of it or seeing negativity everywhere and letting it take away your enjoyment of the show. You can take this thread as it is, a fun little step away from the norm in full appreciation of Joshua Jackson since he has had little threads solely about him, and enjoy it as such; or the same old argument will continue. You have the power to make that decision!

On topic, I really enjoyed JJ's performance during the gas station/car scene and how his voice changed with such emotion! How great!!!

I have seen all of his movies, and a couple are some of my all time favourites. If anyone wants to blab about the best Josh Jackson movies, I am your gall!

And can I get an amen for Josh Jackson's (Peter Bishop's, since this is a thread about Peter :) ) butt? Am I the only one that thinks he has the arse of a god?

Sarcasm!?! "PB's Peter Bishop Uber-Appreciation Society" is 100% LOVE. There is just too much Joshua Jackson love in this thread for there to be any room left for sarcasm. You think I'm joking, but just you wait until after Friday's "The End of All Things", I'm gonna blow this thread up with CRAZY amounts of Peter Bishop Fanboy love!

Josh NEEDS to play a double or else he would be less and less appreciated.

Anna Torv's and Joshua Jackson's discussion folders both have 5 pages of threads devoted to the respective actors. And I don't think this page was made purely out of sarcasm, although, if it were....wouldn't that be pretty fitting for a PB page?

Plus, Anna Torv is a newcomer to American audiences, as well as many other countries. Joshua Jackson has had international fame for several years now (well over a decade), and it's easy to find fan pages and discussions for him all over the web. However, Anna is pretty much known internationally only for her role on Fringe. It stands to reason that all things being equal, discussion pages for the lesser known actor (Torv) would be more prolific on a site for the low-ratings show on which she costars.

As for a double...I'm sure he could DO it, but do we really want the Fringe writers to cast JJ as the age-advanced corpse of his alternate? Pass!

Kind of hard to argue with this ^

Josh NEEDS to play a double or else he would be less and less appreciated.

I don't think that's the case. It's one less opportunity for him to expand his creativity in portraying Peter Bishop but given how his relationship relative to the characters around him seems to be constantly in flux (his consciousness being transferred to 2012, everyone forgetting who he is this season) there is still lots of opportunities for him to display his acting range.

This will be a controversial choice, but my favorite Peter episode by far is "Reciprocity" from Season 3. Joshua Jackson does troubled and brooding like none other and watching him switch back and forth between being sweet and nurturing to Olivia and Walter and then flipping the switch on "Shifter-slayer" mode and watching him go full on no mercy on Walternate's shape-shifters was a really powerful performance in my opinion. Loved that episode.

As much as it is unfortunate that this particular "weaponizing" storyline didn't fully follow through, Josh's performance is indeed worthy of appraisal.

Also, episodes 2.12 (with the infected "deranged" Peter), 2.20 (with an independent, driven Peter), and 3.22 (with 2026 Peter) were also all solid and distinctly memorable performances, IMO. :happy15:

totally...and Marionette is one of my favs too, ...but almost anything when he is a scene with Jackson and Noble, the chemistry is terrific. Can't recall the ep, but the one where Walter is injecting his own bum and Peter has a great expression,

After reading this thread, I don't think that you should let just anyone become a member of the Uber-Appreciation Society. Most posters seem like they are only middle-of-the-road JOSHUA JACKSON fans, at best.

I propose the following test:

1. Which episode or episodes featuring JOSHUA JACKSON are emmy-worthy?

a. The Man From The Other Side, 6B, Johari Window or Other
b. Trick question. All of them are emmy-worthy.
c. He's good in parts but hasn't really had an emmy-worthy episode.

2. In writing JOSHUA JACKSON'S name, you can...

a. Abbreviate it (JJ) or use his first name as desired
b. Write full name in all caps only, like this: JOSHUA JACKSON. Anything less signifies a lack of uber-respect!
c. Just use the character name (Peter) and move on

3. When fellow cast members speak about JOSHUA JACKSON, they should...
a. Give him all the praise he deserves
b. Be seized by an awestruck silence and reverently bow their heads. The awestruck silence should go on and on, until the power of speech slowly returns. When they lift their heads, you should see glistening tears. They should then fall out of their seats and crawl away, muttering 'I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy'.
c. It's all hollywood blather, doesn't matter.

4. God is to Heaven as JOSHUA JACKSON is to...
a. Acting
b. An even better Heaven, how dare you
c. Huh?

5. The reason why Anna Torv gets all the good scenes is
a. She deserves it, but she really shines when appearing with JJ, so it's all good
b. Vile jealousy or possibly blackmail
c. The story is really her story

Here is how to score the test.

If you answered the questions by choosing A - you are a middle of the road JJ fan, not an Uber-fan, sorry
If you answered the questions by choosing B - Congratulations! You qualify for the Uber-Appreciation Society!
If you answered the questions by choosing C - get out of here.

These questions might not be exclusive enough for weeding people out of your Society, so if you have more you can add them on.

Joe, this is awesome.

Okay everybody, Joe has clearly set the bar here for Peter Bishop/Joshua Jackson fandom. This test will remain a self administered and self proctored test and thus relies on the honor system . . . no one likes a cheater! The answer key is located at the bottom of the test, only ONE wrong answer will be permitted! Those who fail to pass are invited to excuse themselves from the forum so that they may shamefully reflect upon their woefully inadequate commitment to TRUE Peter Bishop fandom.

Thanks Joe! :happy15:

As a side note, PB, those posts you made don't constitute as double (or quadruple) posting. It's only double posting when:

-You post the exact same message twice (due to posting error or otherwise);
-You post simply to "bump" the thread (i.e. bring it up on the recent posts lists just to increase traffic/views, or to incite discussion);
-You post multiple messages that could easily have been contained in a single post in quick succession, or could have edited a prior post to add such information

As I recall, you had unique content for each of you posts. You can't help it if there aren't enough users to bounce off of, so a one-sided conversation is forgivable in this instance. As long as you are adding unique content and contribute to the discussion in a meaningful, productive way, you aren't committing any forum etiquette faux-pas. :tiphat:

Gah, I really messed this thread up then. . . I may go back and repair it or something later. Thanks for the clarification. I read the weekly news letter and thought a serious category five breach of forum etiquette was underway in my thread (five posts in a row :confused0066:). So for clarification for a n00b like me, it's okay as long as it's unique content on a thread like this, as opposed to just following up related content to one's last post to bump the thread?

edit: okay, fixed it back to it's original state of having never been broken in the first place.

It's not posting several times in a row that is discouraged; it's posting several times in a row without good reason. Good reason would include providing new insight or content that either cannot fit into a prior post through editing (if said prior post is recent), or a significant amount of time has passed.

If you're going to add a short, related comment to go with the idea of a post you just made, you're better off just editing said post and putting it there instead of making a separate post right after. The reason double-posting is frowned upon is that it causes clutter, and rules against it exist to ensure organization and readability.

This thread's format can allow for you to post multiple posts, if you so desire. An example of not double-posting would be something like:

-Making a post linking to an interview with Josh Jackson
-Some time later, you make a post about Peter Bishop's actions in the most recent episode
-Then, you showcase a Fringe-related promo

These things are all relevant to the thread, but they wouldn't quite fit into a single post. They each offer unique content and/or insight. And you can't control if people respond or not, so it's not like you need to wait for someone else to post just so you can; it's not a user having two posts in a row that is necessarily the crime.

A double-post would consist of strings of messages which are all related to the point where making a single post from the get-go, or editing a post to append these extra related thoughts after you made that post, would be the more logical solution.

If you talk about Josh's recent fashion choices at some gala, but have more thoughts you didn't think to include prior to posting, what is the more sensible action? To edit that post to add these thoughts, or to make a new post(s) for these related ideas scarcely five minutes after posting? The former option achieves the same goal, but with less clutter, and is hence the superior one.

Bumping is usually done because someone wants more people to read their thread by exposing it more, and doesn't usually involve the posting of meaningful content (often times, people will just post the word "bump" and nothing else, hoping to raise their thread on the Recent Posts list on the front pages of a forum). You can see that this is kind of a lame attempt at generating views/traffic/responses. You can't control who comes into a thread, or when they do, so all you can really do is post what you want/need to post, and if someone decides to comment, then all the better.

That's all I really have on the topic of double-posting; like riding a bicycle, you kind of get a feel for it as you go along. :tiphat:

...Good God, I haven't seen this much exposition since last week's episode...*pant*

LOL, it seems like the busier the Forum is the busier you are the majority of the time. Nonetheless, your efforts are very much appreciated, especially in an instance like this when I'm so "can't find my ass with both hands" confused.

Ironically, I just posted a reply to an earlier comment made in the most recent Spoiler thread which incidentally posted directly behind my last reply to another person earlier in the day. I hate to drive you up the wall here but I immediately found myself wondering all over again ". . . is this double-posting? :confused0006:"

I saw that post.

Double-posting's biggest criterion is relatively short succession between posts. The post you made was created some time after the previous one, so on that end, I'd say you're good.

As for content, I'm guessing you replied to other people because you missed their posts the first time around, so that's understandable. There's an aesthetic element at play, too; is it better to edit a post to make one large conglomeration, or to divide your posts into more digestible chunks?
I'd say you've made no foul yet, though if you do, I'll be the first to call you out on it. ;):tiphat:

I'm pretty sure that 500 posts is the post-cap for unlocking the Private Messaging feature, so if you didn't already know, you can now send some to anyone who also has the feature unlocked. So if ever you want to send something longer than the Visitor Message's 1000-character limit cannot accommodate, you'll know where to turn.:happy15:
