Do you remember the salesman at the typewriter store? Well a shape shifter gave him an injection and he was able to walk again. Do you think this could have been a perfected version of the same stuff that the scientist in this episode created? It wouldn't be impossible since the laws of physics don't apply in the red universe either due to it's degradation, so maybe they figured out how to make it work over there. The salesman could have also had muscular dystrophy as well, since it does weaken the muscles in your legs. You don't always end up in a wheel chair from the disease, but it can still make it difficult to walk around if you are lucky enough not to end up having to use one.

Not sure about this-I think the implication was that they'd cured the injury/illness affecting thw typewriter guy, instead of just making him lighter.
We didn't see the "Librarian" guy who treated him again, did we? Because he seemed to
know so much about the Machine component, I was thinking he was an evil First Person
or Observer (with a wig ;) ) working with Walternate.
