I don't understand why some people are confused if this is our Olivia or not..
Right after Peter disappeared at the end of season 3 all of the Observers are outside the building talking about what just happened. December says something like, "You're right, they don't remember him."
Why would the Observers even consider that anybody would be able to remember him if this was a different universe in which Peter never lived to be an adult.
IF this was a different universe in which Peter never lives to be an adult, then DUH nobody can remember him..
Isn't that enough to plainly tell us that this is in fact the same universe, same people, just with different memories and a different past. Which is why the term, "timeline rewrite" is being used, not "alternate universe.."
Completely agree. It's very clear these are the same people with altered memories.
The producers have said regarding that scene that the only part of that that was misleading was one of the observers saying that Peter NEVER existed which obviously is not true since he did exist as a child.

Exactly.
And if you think about it.. "He never existed (as an adult)" is what he meant.
Since anybody who knew him in the show (Oliva, our Walter, Astrid, whoever else) only knew him as an adult. So he really did "never exist" as the Peter they knew (grown up Peter, not younger kid Peter).
I know, but it is a little misleading. It makes you think Peter was never born.
In addition to the observer scene, when Peter disappears the other characters forgot him immediately, their memories were altered in that moment, we didn't flash to a different timeline, the timeline didn't get reset, the other characters just carried on like he was never there.
There's so much evidence that these are the same people I don't get why some people still think there's another place where Peter can go to find "his" Olivia, Walter and so on.

See, howcome we get it so easily?
But I guess that is just one of many things that people seem to over complicate in this show.

the complication i think started in ep 6 as soon Peter theorize he was in the wrong place and many went with his POV and the confusion continues ...through characters like Walter,Peter,Lincoln who dont have all the facts and the only ones who know whats up are the observers, each time they open their mouths they keep saying the same ,its all up to us to get it, i mean ep 14 and we still feel confused for :some: reason maybe we all hate the amber credits [i know i do] .
As soon the characters like Peter Walter and Olivia [ she needs to put her mind in order still] realize whats up we wont feel in the majority so confused unless they confuse us more.

Wow! This kind of logic I haven't seen on the board. I do think he's in the right place. Time will tell.

Hmm, I guess I assumed this is a different timeline-- well, I mean it is, since the past events were changed-- but I didn't think that these were "his" people after all, I guess I got misled by the fact that *he* thinks he's not in the right place anymore. Reminds me of the Sliders episode with the squeaky gate-- he opens the gate but it doesn't squeak, so he figures "This isn't the right timeline, we need to keep sliding," then after they slide out a guy comes out of the house and makes a comment about having oiled the squeaky gate!
