With all the references to the Biblical Ark story here, I couldn't help but notice the beautiful reference in just our Olivia's pet name.

Now that we know that the Cortexiphane trials were all just an attempt for Bell and Walter to create an Olivia so that they could 1) create their own universe, and 2) remain safe from harm, it's interesting that Walter always called her "Olive." In the Ark story, a dove returns to Noah with an olive branch to signify peace, that the destruction outside the ark had passed, and that Noah's world was returning.

Olive, Olivia, represents that exact sentiment: she is the harbinger of peace after Bell's (or God's) ultimate destruction of mankind.

These writers. I tell ya, they're something else.

That wasn't why they created the trials. Thats just one possible use that the S4 timeline Walter, grief stricken from the loss of both Peters, came up with, and then decided against it.
