Well, the first trailer looks very impressive, especially the image of all the lights going out over North America. :happy15:
Interesting they used the music "Devil's Galop" at the very start of that trailer-it's often in used in European adventure
shows, but I wasn't aware it was also known in the US.
I bet NBC execs are hoping this show will be a hit-the network
badly needs successful dramas.

The plane falling out of the sky definitely caught my attention. There is some serious **** hitting the fan. Definitely will give it a try.

No guns? No simple machines? I get how electronics can be taken off line but the scope of this is a little odd.

Knowing JJ, there is definitely more than meets the eye. Really looking forward to this one!

As has been pointed out before, I presume the "No electricity" thing doesn't effect humans and animals, since the brains and nervous systems of living things use electric pulses to work. If there was a world where no form of electricity could exist, it would be lifeless.

At least in "Falling Skies" its just modern tech that doesn't work, and they can scavenge for old cars and mechanical weapons and stuff. Breaking electronics temporarily is much more believable than somehow permanently altering the laws of nature and science.

They have guns alright. I wish they didn't. Crossbows and swords are something of a fetish of mine. *drools at trailer*
I don't get the car/plane engine thing, either. But I'm willing to fanwank that the issue is more fuel related than anything (as fuel shortages would be a huge/chronic thing in that situation).
I'm kind of glad that they portray the world as completely fraked without simple electronics. Lately I've met med students who say they can't perform this or that procedure if they lack of "appropriate equipment" (which, before any med students yell at me, BS. I've lived in poor countries where "appropriate equipment" is very much optional. It's horrid and hard, but you gotta know what you're doing). And engineers who spend a little too much time typing on their calculators. I'd love to see what they'd do without electric power.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a ludite, I quite love technology, but having been bred in a "leave the calculator in your backpack, thank you" environment, I tend to be baffled/amused by the techno-dependency of the up-and-coming generation.
