I guess I'm wondering what on earth they were doing with a worm-hole calculations (or whatever the screen indicates) during Olivia's operation?

Perhaps they were transporting "The Gentleman" into little hill (i.e Olivia Dunham):shhh:

HOLY COW!!! Good catch D-Roc. Didn't even notice. Not sure at all why they would need/use the "equation" for a spinal tab, but you never know with fringe where nothing is what it seems.

I would theorise that with sensitive enough equipment you should be able to monitor ones brain waves and other vital signs remotely, without attaching equipment to the body.

Whatever it was Loeb wasn't 100% it worked. Perhaps they were still awaiting the results, which would make sense as they were going to let her go at some point:confused0006:

This might be a strange, far-off theory, but what if Loeb and his guys are a rogue group of observers who want to change the course rather than just observe?

That would be a cool idea anyway.

That's an awesomely intriguing theory D-Roc! I saw that laptop thing as well, but never made the connection. Holy Stephen Hawkings batman! Truly intriguing !!!

I think it's most definite they did a spinal tap and not an epidural. I think she got this information when she was hospitalized afterwards, and they (the medical staff) probably deduced this from assessing her. So, I think it's safe to assume that CSF was removed from her.

Another thing they would have checked for ----- which is STANDARD on all female patients, is for pregnancy. So, I think it's safe to assume she wasn't pregnant previously.

HOWEVER, I'm going to go with a possible spin on D-Roc's idea that the gentlemen was transported into Olivia Little Hill Dunham. If he was (and this is still assuming the gentlemen is Jones, when it could still be somebody else) ------ I don't think Olivia is going to carry the gentlemen in the classical sense. In the same way the cold virus "Created" a lifeform from the colon cells of the stomach --------- what if the gentlemen in Olivia is birthed or grown from other means. What if they impregnated her spine for God's sake, and the gentlemen will "grow" in her mind?

I actually just had another thought along a different line:

In the Arrival, I speculated the Observer was using some element of the "brain energy" from those present at the arrival of the beacon. He was apparently examing their heads, and making calculations in order to create an area in the fabric of spacetime for the Beacon to arrive. Perhaps he used their unique electromagnetic signatures (like in Power Hungry) or some other function of their mind energy which is able to access other dimensions naturally (like in dreamscapes). Whatever it was, it has been argued that he uses advanced versions of the archaic ones the different factions in "our world use" currently ----- sooooo ------

So what if that is what they were doing with Olivia? Perhaps they were extracting energy from her CSF in order to create the dimensional portal/wormhole ---- an archaic version of what the Observer did in the Arrival so adeptly? Perhaps that is why they were monitoring her EEG with electrodes and whatnot, another archaic version of what the Observer was using his binocs for?

Perhaps Jones was standing by to enter the wormhole and bring with him into "the next dimension" some vital info gleaned from Olvia's memories? I'm actually liking this idea the more I ponder it ..... because all this could tie in with what we will see taking place in the next episode, No Brainer ---- what if "they" are attempting to liquify brains in order to extract this energy they need in order to access the multiverse?

They look very different...the one from safe looks like worm hole equations "so to speak" while the other one from this weeks episode looks more bio-like?
