Well I did not think he was hot at first, but he was also not my favorite character either. I agree he has grown on me; it is probably the way his character has been developed through the season.

Haha. the reason i kept watching it was because i was bored. *picked up about a week ago, watched eppys on fox.com*
I yeah, i was watching the pilot last night and thought about that. He does seem mean in the beginning, but then he gets better. and i agree with its the way his character has been developed. Peter and Walter are my favs!

Loved him early on and love him now - but I hated his snarky one-liners ALL the time, so I am happy he gets more real dialogue now.

My impression at first was you weren't supposed to necessarily like him. He was tricked into coming back to the States get his father out of the asylum. He was resentful towards Olivia at first, at the asylum, calling her sweetheart in that chauvinistic way. She retorts, "Why don't you call me 'Sweetheart' again, I'd really like that" :haha:, then when she pushed him to check Walter out of the hospital, Peter retorted, "This falls under the category, 'Be careful what you ask for', Sweetheart." But by the time Olivia confessed she'd conned him, either there was some chemistry already in the making between them, or Peter was finally intrigued that his father was more than a toothpaste chemist. Either way, Peter's anger toned down, and we slowly start to see Peter in a more thoughtful light.
Peter has some anger issues that he didn't have a normal father. But, in Peter's defense, he had to grow up with a crazy father who was too focused on his science to be affectionate. Growing up around a crazy relative, trust me, it's hard for an immature child not to hate them. Then Walter was locked up when Peter was a teenager, Peter and his mom had to give up their relatively comfortable life, and who know what hard knocks they had to endure. I've guessed Mom is now dead (or whatever woman raised Peter, that's another story).
Since "The Arrival" when Peter's eyes were opened to some of the mysteries around him, Peter has been reconnecting with Walter. There are still times when Walter gets on Peter's nerves, like in the hardware store in "Safe" about not meeting up to his potential. Although Josh Jackson has described Peter as selfish, I think Peter has made big strides from using his talents as an aspiring criminal to being a very important part of the Fringe task force. And Josh Jackson has said Peter will be more than Walter's babysitter as the show develops.
And you'll notice Peter is my favorite character, too,....:ashamed0001::P

I think the creators made him this way to create more problems in the show, more events, and the development of the father-son relationship.

I'll admit the first episode, I wasn't too fond of Peter and the way he treated his father, but ep after ep he has started to grow on me, i like the exchanges between father and son, and hope things continue how they are :)

I loved him from the beginning, although I first only watched because of John Noble. It was more Olivia to whom I needed to warm up. I don't know why but I hated the way she threatened Peter in the first episodes.
But THAT was in the beginning, now that I have seen all episodes and became a really big Fringe fan I also come to love the whole team (points at signature again).

Me too! He got on my nerves in the first episodes. Of course, I changed. *points to "favorite character" field under avatar*

I liked him from the first time I saw him. And have been pleased with how his character has developed. Looking forward to S2!

You have a lovely signature. I switch between Peter and Olivia, I like them both very much.

I like him during the first few episodes because he was being a jerk. He was creating friction between himself and the other characters, and being pushy. I guess I felt sympathetic for him because he was tricked into visiting St. Clares and all.

And because there was evidently a big reason he wanted to stay around the globe from his father. Which by the way they haven't really explained enough. That list he gave of his father being the most abusive, egocentric, etc-----we find that he shocked Peter, and ignored him when he was older, but there must have been other things to make Peter so very angry.

Maybe it's the fact that he doesn't remember much of his past with his father that could be creating his aversion? I would suppose that he doesn't remember being dragged through another dimension.

That was a really strong, vivid, angry memory he was having when he told Olivia that in the plane; he definitely remembers bad things. Lack of memory (with a distant or rarely met father) wouldn't be so detailedly angry--you have to know them to specify things like that.

i liked peter, i just liked the kind of untouchable character just like peter did in ep pilot. when olivia asked him to go.
after a hard start to be with his father again i started to more more love them, both of bishop.
i love a lot of fun chemistry about that father and son.
