Joshua Jackson (aka Peter bishop) is a one dimensional actor .. he's terribad!
He absolutely has NO range.
I say they kill him off before he pulls the whole show down in the ratings. Who the hell is casting for this show?
I say they cast Dominic Monaghan (Charlie Pace from Lost) to assist John Noble (Walter) in carrying the show.
Great writing .. I'm a huge fan of Abrams.

Don't hold back, tell me how you really feel, socialist! :haha:
I'm engaging with baiting, which is usually pointless.
Since they hired Joshua Jackson for the Peter Bishop role, and he's been doing guest shots representing the show, I doubt the producers are suddenly unhappy with his performance. And there's a lot of show fans here who list him as their favorite character.
We have had discussions about if his character's being utilized enough, or what exactly his role is, a principal player who also fills a supporting role when needed? This is still in debate.
But, if you think Joshua Jackson's a bad actor, did you see any of "Dawson's Creek"? He gained an international following (yes, probably young single girls, but that's a start). In that show it seemed to me that he moved from a support to a principal player. I've playfully warned D-Roc not to start watching it, it's a teen drama but it was very addictive over the Holidays.
If you still think he's bad, fine. But saying things like he has absolutely NO range sounds like you want to fight, not discuss.
You could have an interesting thread. Dominic Monahan is talented, I don't see him projecting the coldness Peter can project. Anyway, it's only my opinion, I like controversial threads if they're sincere.
There are threads devoted Abrams projects here aside from the show. I'm off to see a scary movie.

If you don't see range in Josh's performance, it may not entirely be his fault. As Cathy said, there have already been discussions about how Peter's character is utilized in the show. The writers haven't exactly given him much to do.
But to suggest killing the character of Peter off just because you think Josh is under-performing is, as Spock said, highly illogical. Aside from Fringe Science, one of the major themes of the show is the father-son dynamic of Walter and Peter, and most viewers attest this is one of the best parts about the show.
Also, I don't really like Dominic Monaghan much, but even if he's a good actor, there is no guarantee he will be better than Josh if his part is underwritten too. If you like Dominic so much, watch more "Lost"? :D

Peter is going to get a lot more to do in season two most likely, but even with the little bits that he gets, I think Josh is doing a great job, especially when he teams up with John Noble, those two are practically magical together.
and Dominic Monaghan...i like him as Charlie, but not even a little bit as Peter. sorry.

Yes, kill off peter and olivia, astrid, just leave Walter since john is the true star of the show, the best actor on the show!
Kill off every single person on this pathetic show! Nobody, including the writers, cares about Josh, olivia and every other god forsaken character on the show.
John is more important, screw everyone else! :icon20:

I disagree.
It's a trio dynamic.
And DM, I can't imagine him as Peter. Maybe as Charlie ... Francis, but not as Peter.
I'm waiting for character developpment, which i'm sure will happen soon. :D
Yes, kill off peter and olivia, astrid, just leave Walter since john is the true star of the show, the best actor on the show!
let's kill everyone except Gene and Mr papaya, who are the truely stars of the show !

It is Definitely a Trio Dynamic.
I'm only going to start rooting to kill Peter if Joshua Jackson gives another interview saying
Peter and Olivia are only going to be brother and sister!!!:anim_36:
The Gene and Mr. Papaya Show. With guest appearances from the vibrating football game and the station wagon Landship Peter drives. :P
Walter, Peter and Olivia are a Powerful Trio. I disagree with John Noble that a P&O relationship would destroy the trio. It would not. One more day before the season finale. *sniff* :tears2:

I have never seen Jakson in anything before this and I think he has done very well with what his Peter character has had to do so far. If he was showing crazy range and jumping all over the place with his acting then it wouldn't fit the Peter character as he has been written so far. Peter is a very smart guy who IMO is very cynical of the world because of his ability to easily read people and he has always struggled to find his place in the world so he has been a wanderer. If you introduce a character in this way then he cannot suddenly show emotional depth all the time. As the Peter character grows we will see if Jackson has more depth, but to this point he has played the Peter character very well IMO.

jordoo, since we'll have no Fringe for a while I highly recommend going to YouTube and checking out his Dawson's Creek work. High school and love triangle angst. It's remarkable starting the 3rd season when he starts falling for his best friend's girl. It's really good. And free on YouTube. :o

We'll see Cathy904 but don't hold your breath. I've come to fringe from a scifi perspective and its the only show I've actually made a point to make sure I watch weekly in many years, even though my brother told me to watch Lost and Firefly but he has all of those discs so I can catch up on that stuff still. I like a good romance if its believable and not the main focus of the show but I generally do not go in for the stuff you describe in Dawsons Creek. I'll take your word for it that Jacksin is a good actor though, especially since I like what I've seen from him so far.

I forgot about that scene! Man he's good. That scene and the scene between Joey and Pacey in the ep "The Anti-Prom" make me cry every time I watch it.

Yeah -Anti prom was good (very angsty) promicide was better tho in terms of acting. I read that writers on DC have said they realized he had the most range and they really pushed him -he always had the tough scenes -and always pulled it off.
Here they are

So glad his lost that puppy fat.
My favourite Pacey moment was when he brought the wall space for Joey to paint her mural.

IMHO, Joshua Jackson is a grand actor however Peter Bishop as a character seemed unneeded at first. After the pilot episode, it seemed Peter wasn't necessary in solving the cases, like he was being used for comic relif. However, through out the season, I saw more and more that if Peter Bishop were removed from the Fringe division team, Walter would go off the deep end. Over time, I came to relies that Peter was a necessary as Olivia or even more so.
