Has anyone nailed down what those books are on William Bell's table? Here's the best screencap I could get:

http://ktwray.webs.com/random%20images/william%20bell%20books.jpg

They are a little tough to make out, but I think that:

* The green one in the upper left is The James Family, possibly authored by Jacques Barzun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacques_Barzun) ... he seemed to be really into William, Henry, and Alice James (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_James). If you google about them you will probably find the reasons would be obvious, esp in regards to theories on emotions and whatnot.

* I think the one under that one is Death in Holy Orders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_in_Holy_Orders) by PD James (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._D._James) ...

* The fat older looking one on the table seems to say Standard Natural History (http://books.google.com/books?id=BHIMAAAAYAAJ) if I'm seeing it correctly. If I understand what I'm reading it might be a Harvard issued tome.

Any guesses on the other ones (for those who would care)?

I can't make out the rest of the books, but there is an oxygen mask on the desk. A result of old age? Or an effect of traveling between universes?

Yeah, although the books are interesting, I find the oxygen mask a much more interesting element, and I'm assuming that was the main point of the shot.

Yeah that's a little portable o2 tank for him to take with him wherever he goes .... however the mask might be a key to something. Typically, a person would only need a nasal cannula (the thing that goes in your nose). This allows a person to breath room air as well as get a little boost of oxygen. With the mask however, a greater concentration of oxygen is provided. The patient cannot breathe room air (allowing for the only source of oxygen to be from the tank), and a little one way valve allows the release of exhalation without reinhalation. Typically, though, a non-rebreather has what is called a reservoir bag attached to it. His apparently doesn't.

The first thought that crossed my mind when seeing it, was that he might need oxygen assistance similiar to the kid from Inner Child. But this wouldn't make sense, considering that he probably didn't live in an oxygen deprived environment like the kid (unless being up that high in the Towers effects him) --- which leads to another thought.

When David Robert Jones teleported (the first time at least), he needed to spend some time in a decompression chamber. Perhaps Bell has respiratory issues related to similiar effects himself ... :confused0006:... or perhaps he is using oxygen therapy as a means to help prevent decompression sickness or as a means to aide in recompression.

I posted about this in another thread. I'm thinking the result of dimension crossing OR a serious or even terminal illness that could play a huge part in Season 2 and Bells motivations.
