After watching the finale last night I thought i'd share a few ideas that have been floating around the ol' noggin....

First up is the fact that it's almost certain the Peter we all know and love is actually an alternate Peter that Walter "retreived" from an alternate world.

My theory behind this is that at some point we'll witness a flashback to the death of the original peter. In this flashblack I believe we'll see Walter and William essentially doing what Jones did in the finale - opening up a rift between two worlds. Once the rift opens the Observer will appear and will somehow scare Peter (who may or may not have tagged along without permission) and this will lead to his death. The Observer (who lets face it is a rather nice chap) will feel guilty? or perhaps that he had caused something to happen that "shouldn't" of happened? Thusly either bringing Walter the alternate Peter, or telling Walter of his existence.

We also know that in the world William Bell is living, 9/11 didn't occur (Twin Towers anyone?) and Obama still gets into the whitehouse - so it's all pretty good from what we can see.

David Robert Jones - whom I personally think shouldn't have died and maybe isn't even dead (Perhaps this is just me in denial....) was far from malicious toward Walter and the gang. He tried to help Olivia awaken her abilites. He also stated it was an honor to meet Dr Bishop.

SO.

The story goes, in my mind, something along the lines of ; Post Peter swapping, William and Walter discover this fantastic world where the political impact of certain events hasn't slowed the technological and scientific progression of mankind. Walter being Walter thinks this is an amazing oppertunity to improve our own universe. But William disagrees and wants to keep this information secret. William then comes into contact with alternate universe Walter, who thinks much along the same lines as himself and wishes for global, or...multi-global domination. Together they plot to confuse, imprison and wipe the memory of the "original" Walter. Which they do.

Jones somehow gets wind of Bell's overall plan and confronts him. Bell removes him from the company and sets the plan for his imprisonment into motion.

Fast forward a few years and you have William Bell conducting experiments on our world to test the technology he's developing using alternate worlds resources / advances.

There's more but my mind is swirling with ideas :S

I'm not entirely sure where ZFT fits in, but the overall moral of the story is : William Bell is the enemy. Walter (our Walter) was never evil. and Jones was trying to stop Bell not just for his own personal reasons, but to stop him from destroying both worlds.

That's pretty much where my head is at too. The only twist I have is that when they crossed dimensions, New Bell killed old Bell and came back with Walter or sneaked across without Walter knowing and then spent the next few years using Walter and tricking him (including creating the fake ethics chapter) and then framed him so Walter would get institutionalized and Bell would make tons of money thanks to Massive Dynamic.
