View Full Version : Peter Bishop- Emotionally detached?

Anyone else wonders when Peter will actually show he has feelings? I feel as though Peter is so cold throughout the show and sometimes I can hardly tell if he is happy, sad, angry, frustrated. Sure he cracks jokes but sometimes it comes off as flat.

Could this be because this Peter isn't exactly human and is more enhanced when the real!Peter died?

I find that peter should be more emotional so people can actually relate to him more.

I think Peter's so cold and hard because every day he's working so closely with his father, and even though the two have gotten closer throughout the show, he can't completely forgive Walter for all of the things Walter's done to him. He seems to be pretty appalled by the rest of his father's experiments, too. So, in my opinion, this humanizes him a little more. I do hope he softens up next season though :)

I think considering his history Peter is naturally defensive. I do think that come season 2 he'll loosen up a bit.

That being said I also think that he has had a few great moments... like when he found out that Walter was experimenting on him in "The Ghost Network", also he got very defensive and angry at Olivia in "No Brainer" when she suggested that Walter meet the mother of his late assistant that was killed in the fire.

So I wouldn't say he's cold... just guarded.

That's a much better way of putting it. :D

I always thought, Olivia was the "cold" one. I think Peter had some great scenes, where he showed emotions- especially in Peter/Olivia scenes. I really felt a bit sorry for him, he was so so caring and she always seemed a bit harsh towards him (though they "warmed up" but I still don't like how she reacted to him in some scenes).

I agree, Peter's more guarded than anything else. I get the impression more that he doesn't want to care, versus that he doesn't care at all.

I would disagree that he hasn't. I find Peter's "background" emotions to be quite telling, particularly in regards to how Peter feels about Walter. The exasperated eyerolls always seem to have a hint of fondness in them, and there are always those cute subtle smiles he gives whenever Walter does something that Peter finds genuinely amusing (which seems to happen a lot IMO).

This has been my observation too.

Both Peter and Olivia are "guarded". But Peter noticed that Olivia wasn't like the other girls he met/worked with.
So he's not as guarded as he's with others.

It's like a pessimistic who's more optimist when around more pessimist than himself.

I don't think he is really detached...actually he comes to care really fast for his father and Olivia. And he also seem to care about this Tess girl a lot.
