In the episode ‘Bound’ where Olivia gets kidnapped, Mitchel Loeb is killing people who stop epidemics by using those super-sized common cold viruses that looked like slugs. They thought they killed the epidemiologists or whatever because they were going to start an epidemic. When they figured out that Mitchel kidnapped Olivia, she asked why he gave her a spinal tap. He said ‘we were trying to protect you.’ But they just said he was making stuff up because Olivia shot his wife.
However, in the episode “The Road Not Taken,” when she crosses over to the AU and asked Charlie about the Pratt case, he said “Half of Boston under quarentine and you’re worried about a couple of charred twins?” That made me think that in the AU, they were not able to stop Loeb and an huge epidemic was started.
And I thought of another thing Loeb said- “At least tell me you know the two sides.” That meant that it wasn’t just him doing this, that he was working for someone higher up. So they could still start an epidemic, just with Loeb as a major setback.
So either the AU wasn’t as lucky at stopping Loeb or an epidemic will soon be started, but I’m leaning towards the second one. My only question is- why would they want to protect Olivia, of all people?
