Well, skibopple, Lorena was an illusion, not a successor to Godric. Or was she a vision? Poor Eric, imploring Godric not to do what Godric did.

I'm not sure why Godric thought that would make amends.

I hope the "I will rise up" has more promise than what we've been led to believe in this mythology. I'm not sure what's going to be able to kill Maryann, or at least run her off.

I had to laugh even as I ground my teeth for poor Bill. I got a couple of pictures of Sookie's 'dream', I'll work on uploading them tomorrow. Eric's so selfish. So is loving Sookie going to turn him around? Or simply seduce her?

Sneaky Eric! :haha: But I can hear the Viking Whordes going up in flames in the distance, from sheer excitement, now!

I'm so glad Lorena isn't the successor - I really liked Isobel! I felt really sorry for Eric when he was pleading! Aw bless! We've never seen him like that before and neither has Sookie which makes me think this (as well as the blood connections thing) will warm him to her (is that the right way round? you know what I mean though!).

I'm not sure why Godric thought that would make amends.

I thought it was going to be a punishment from Nan Flanagan but she didn't really seem that bother did she, apart from taking his job off him! I think he thought it was the only way he could make amends - he'd originally thought if he offered himself to the Fellowship to stop them from kidnapping someone else and since he wanted to die anyway it was killing two bird with one stone and preventing further bloodshed. But when this plan went wrong, seeing as the vamps went looking for him, more blood and mayhem was caused as a result of his misjudgement (cos lets face it it was misjudgement to think the vamps wouldn't try to rescue him!) for which he felt guilty and so decided he didn't need the Fellowship as an excuse to sacrifice himself! I have to say I cried at the end! Poor little Godric! Bless him! I really liked him! :( Cute of Sookie to stay with him too!

I hope the "I will rise up" has more promise than what we've been led to believe in this mythology.

I'm not sure what you mean here? I don't think my brain is functioning properly today, sorry!!

I'm not sure what's going to be able to kill Maryann, or at least run her off.

I liked her storyline this week! I got a bit bored last week with her focusing on Tara and Eggs but I love how she's swinging it round to Sam again! She wants him bad!!! LOVE IT! Ha he turned into a fly! :haha: What are they going to do? Somehow I get the feeling the Eric is going to be involved! :confused0006:

I had to laugh even as I ground my teeth for poor Bill. I got a couple of pictures of Sookie's 'dream', I'll work on uploading them tomorrow. Eric's so selfish.

Yeay that would be awesome! I can never do screenshots! Sookie's dream! :haha: How funny was it when she couldn't take her eyes off him at the meeting?!! :haha: Poor Billy boy! He was so gutted! So this must be how the Queen character becomes involved!! Excellent! :happy15:

So is loving Sookie going to turn him around? Or simply seduce her?

:confused0006:Hmmm that a fabulous question! And one I can't wait to find out!!! :D

Sneaky Eric! :haha: But I can hear the Viking Whordes going up in flames in the distance, from sheer excitement, now!

I'm sorry but...sucking the silver out??? How stupid can she get??? :confused0066: Funny though! :haha: Can't wait for next week!!

I just have to quote from this review I found on another forum/thread:

"Just when I thought I was going to swoon myself into a bloodlust stupor over Sookie and Eric (Bill, go hang out with Hoyt's mom, she seems lonely), the second half of the show took a deeper, more soulful turn, reducing me, in the end, to tears.

Godric. I loved him last week and now I darn near worship him. Allan Hyde, we barely knew ye, and yet I feel like I understand and empathize with Godric more than anyone on the show.

I want his short tenure on "True Blood" to be memorialized with an Emmy nomination. There's no way this episode could've made the impact it did without his amazing performance, not only tonight but in last week's episode as well.

Of course, “I Will Rise Up” also afforded Alex Skarsgard his best chance at dramatic acting on “True Blood” and he rose to the challenge brilliantly. We really got a look at Eric's soul tonight.

But he's had all season and even a small portion of last season to get here. It's all the more remarkable that in only two episodes Allan Hyde was able to create as much of a fully formed character. I admire that.

The Eric-Godric-Sookie ending at dawn on the roof of a Dallas skyscraper was emotional TV perfection, not only in the execution – pardon the pun – but also in how it sets us up for the rest of the season.

Godric: “Do you believe in God?”
Sookie: “Yes, I do.”
Godric: “If you're right, how will he punish me?”
Sookie: “God doesn't punish, he forgives.”
Godric: “I don't deserve it. But I hope for it.”
Sookie: “We all do.”

Godric had done so much wrong he didn't seem to think he deserved it. And yet he was probably the brightest light on the show.

Sookie: “Are you very afraid?”
Godric: “No.” (He laughs) “No. I'm full of joy.”
Sookie: “But the pain…”
Godric: “I want to burn.”
Sookie: “I'm afraid for you.” She starts to tear up.
Godric: “A human with me at the end, and human tears; 2,000 years and I can still be surprised. In this I see God.”

"In this I see God."

That still gets me."

I gotta say I wholeheartedly agree with this review, word for word (apart from the Bill part)! I especially loved the "In this I see God" line! WOW just WOW! Godric was AMAZING!

Ha, ha, ha, skibopple, I tried to find the one that was the least revealing,

Viola! Way too dark, I haven't figured out a way around that yet.

Okay so I was able to watch this episode today. That little Sookie/Eric dream scene was great of course but what really really got me was the end. Eric in tears and Godric talking to Sookie. I have to admit I cried some tears. This was so beautiful and sad at the same time.

100% agree with you here! I LOVED the Sookie dream but that Godric scene at the end was AMAZING:

YouTube - The Best Of Eric Northman Part 10

I know Youtube will take it down at somepoint but I just love it!!

The more I watch it the more I think I'm Team Godric!! Bless him!!

He said he needed almost no blood anymore, and he was very opposed to bloodshed. He certainly seemed the most beneficent vampire in Alan Ball's universe.

It makes me wonder why he chose to go up in flames like that. Wouldn't he have made the perfect role model for the way vampires and humans should act around each other?

Such a waste.......

But back on track with Sookie and Eric. Part of my Bill allegiance screams, "Traitor!", but another part of me wants to see this play out. Could Sookie otherwise humanize Eric "What's in it For Me?" Northman? :haha:

Hi! I'll bet Michelle Forbes would love your adoration if you wanted to contact her. I don't have a address at hand, but HBO probably provides a mailing address. Alexander Skarsgard must receive a crush of mail! :haha:

I'm a little concerned about what Maryann is going to do to the good (and not so good) people of Bon Temps. Next week's previews showed Jason and Sookie returning to an apparently deserted town.

In your favor, maenads are supposed to be ExTREMELY powerful beings who demand tribute and must be obeyed (I was told this from another of the Charlaine Harris' bookreaders). And there's more than one, or two. If you check the SDCC footage where Michele Forbes talked about her character, she said in no uncertain terms that Maryann was a goddess. I'm not sure how you can kill a goddess off, possibly the only chance would be to distract her enough to go somewhere else for acolytes.

I'm a little sad only 3 more shows, and it's many months away, but rumor has it in the next season we finally get to meet a Werewolf, yea!

Here's more on the untimely demise of Godric. Who, by the way, I still hope he can come back from going up in flames, being extra old and all. Probably a little unrealistic, but he really did get a following in the short time he appeared on the show.

Ahh you are NOT wrong! In both respects! I just rewatched the episode in preparation for tonight's (or tomorrow's in my case) episode and I loved it all over again....and cried all over again!

"This is the Beginning". That's the last thing Eric says to Sookie in bed before the last Lorena vision. There's three tantalizing shots, but I'm having trouble lightening them up.

I watched the episode again this afternoon and enjoyed it even more than the first time.

That amazing, brief bed scene, oh My!

And Eric, showing love for Godric and emotion he usually eschews, I'm not even opposed anymore to a possible Eric/Sookie romance (and I'm a Bill fan!). :haha:

It's really moving, on the rooftop.
