This was what the man in the typewriter shop said to the soldier. What does it mean?

Since he used words like "You're one of them" and "tell them", I'm guessing he is not from the other universe himself. But I think what he means by "I'm not waiting around forever" is that he trades a haven for communication for the promise that his life will be saved.

The ZFT manifesto says the war between the universes is for 'survival.' This seems to mean the universe that loses the war will be completely annihilated. So it would seem to me that alter universe soldiers plan to strike very soon and that certain people from this universe may be saved or preserved in exchange for helping the cause.

Thoughts?

This was an excellent exchange. Hard to say what the shop owner meant, other than his service is not open ended. Either there is some quid pro quo agreement or there is something that could shut him down.

Also "its been 6 years since the last time... nevermind"

What happened 6 years ago? Anything referenced in past episodes?

He could be one of Bell's soldiers (as most of them say they are "waiting" for the call to arms) and that instead he is now working for the other side.

My initial reaction was "they" would heal him somehow. He was obviously disabled in some way.

it wasn't six years since last time, it was Six years since..." which I took to mean its been six years since he made whatever deal.

My thought was that its was something (likely healing) in exchange for housing their communication system.
