Ok everyone who agrees that it is our right to have private messages make a post here. I know that's D-ROC site and I am fine with that, but it's a forum and as users we have the right to have private messages. So anyone who agrees make a post here.

I wonder why people are so afraid to tell their opinion. We have rights as users you know? We can say our opinion. Vote! There is nothing to fear.

Did you read the following?

Sorry, but as has been pointed out, I've turned off the PM system. PM's are a priveledge that has been abused by our good friend mucca in the worst way. To prevent a similar situation arising I have taken a few measures.

I'm sorry that it has to affect all of you, but I don't have time to run around after members who want to cause havoc.

You can find PM systems on other websites.

Even the registration of the new users doesn't work. :(

Calm down. You know that half of the globe is sleeping, it's 5 on USA Pacific time, in Asia, they have other problems right now, and others people are working.

I'd like the PM back, but no need to post in this thread every 15 minutes.

This could be considered as flood.

If the private messages don't come back in a couple of days I am out of here.
Even the registration of the new users doesn't work. This forum is falling apart.:(

Montecito, the reason that new users can't register is because Mucca was creating multiple accounts, and registering constantly. In order to prevent her and any other spammers from creating accounts with which they would only cause the forum further harm, registration has been temporarily disabled.

Wait, is the PM thing temporary or permanent?

Permanent. That's why I am so angry.

there are other things you can use to pm your friends with

I'm disappointed that we don't have PMs, but compared to what D-Roc could've done, I don't think it's that bad. After all, it could've been kept so we needed moderator approval before our posts showed. That would've upset me a lot more than just not having PMs and registration being temporarily disabled.

And could tell us what are those things, please ?

When you are already registered, it doesn't seem so bad :P

I don't give a damn about mucca. It was awful what she did. But why we must get punished for that? Why is this our fault?

You mean what could've been done?

Well, like I said, the moderator approval for posts could've been a permanent thing. That was my main concern yesterday. That's the worst thing I could think of, besides the site being shut down permanently.

I definitely agree. PMs are nice, yes, but its more of a want than a need, in my opinion. We still have visitor messages, and as bookworm said, it could have been far worse. Having no PMs is better than having the moderator approval for posts. But thats just my opinion.

The question was for Elly.

I'm saying that when you are a registered member, you don't care about the registeration being off. When you're a guest and want to register, you must wonder what on earth happened to hear that "You can't register at the moment, registeration for this forum had been turned off"

Poor guests that just wanted to join us, :haha:

Yes, but it is practical for keeping entries a secret.
There's no need to organize contests, then.

Visitor messages, I wouldn't care if it was a disabled feature, I rarely use it.

I agree on the moderation post, we didn't have a single conversation last night. That was very annoying, i'm glad it had been lifted.

It's a forum. We come here to have fun. It is about the want. Not about the need.
And I already explained in the previous post why it couldn't be worse. Because noone would have stayed here if we waited mod approval to make a post.

I would have stayed. The forum is about coming together to enjoy a great show, and I love Fringe so much that, yes, even if the moderator approval would have stayed, I would still keep coming to the forum. Cuz its a great show, and its great to be with other fans of the show :)

Oh, right, the contests. I overlooked that, I'm sorry. I should have thought about it. I agree on that though, for contests PMs are good to have.

Seriously, you're over reacting.

D-Roc and all the other mods can only apologise for the inconvenience at the moment. What happened was unexpected and we're all busy with real life as well. D-Roc could have simply shut the forum down until he had time to sort things out but he didn't, he just put some restrictions out there. This wasn't his choice. When he's able to, he'll come and sort things out.
Don't hold me to this, but I don't think the PM restrictions are permanant. Just give him time, I'm sure he's doing his best, and there are only three of us mods to help him.

Sorry for the inconveniece this has caused everyone, but we're doing our best.

Arctic Fox is right. Right now we just have to deal with the PMs being disabled and be patient. In time, this problem will be solved. We're moderators that volunteer to help out the forum, and we also do have personal lives. We can't attend to FF constantly, so sorting out these problems may take a while.

The post-moderation and the PMing restrictions were all necessary in order to prevent this from happening again. As you've seen, the post-moderation was lifted. Perhaps, PMing will too. Like AF and MSC, I don't know for certain when or even whether PMing will be restored. But I have faith in confidence in D-Roc that he will do whatever is best for Fringe-Forum.com.

Like AF said, all we can really do now is apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused. I know that I am affected by the PM restrictions - the Movie Banner Contest relies on PMs, or so do all of the other contests. So it isn't only Fringies that are affected by this, but also Mods. And in response to your statement that you think the users here don't believe they have rights ... I think they do believe that, they're just not overreacting. Be patient, and this problem will be sorted out.

Cheers,
Fringified

Personally I'm glad you are still up and running.
It is a privilege to be a guest on your bandwidth D-Roc. Hope you can globally ban that person's IP or something. I've seen this happen at a couple of other forums just recently. Things went back to normal there too. :happy15:
