View Full Version : Will Peter Ever Call Walter "Dad"?

I've noticed that Peter calls his dad "Walter" alot (I guess he's copying Bart Simpson :p), which is understandable considering the resentment and angst that he must still feel towards his father.
Anyway, I was wondering - do you think we'll hear Peter call Walter "Dad" this season? :hope:

yeh i think he will - the trust will build to a point where Peter will call him dad, then i bet there'll be some massive revalation that Walter experimented on him/ cloned him etc then Peter will go back to not trusting him and it'll be Walter again.

I think it'll be a while before Walter is referred to as Dad. If anything I think that even once he trusts Walter he'll still have a feeling of being more his colleague rather than his son for a while.

I think he will, but something bad will be happening to Walter when it does. The "Dad" comment will give Walter the strength or the insperation to over come what ever is happening at the time.

I'm voting for this season ^ but yeah, likely around the finale. In a moment of peril I think it'll just slip out.

I chose in season three, but I really just mean at some point later, who knows how many season this show will have and who knows what they may bring up to bring distrust between the two. He may never say it. But if he does it will be because of different or special circumstances.

i think it'll be alot sooner. I'm placing my bets on about the end of the first arc, episode 8 or 9
*edit* ooh sweepstake!!

Yeah, I'm thinking it will come during some intense/emotional moment - they'll hopefully make the characters earn it, and perhaps try to make us shed a tear or two in the process.

Oh im sure he will I predict he will start to see how great his father is and everything is going to be great untill walter does something and things get worse between them that happens a lot with relationships like this.

I don't think so this season, but its possible in the future I guess, maybe during an emotional moment. It seems at this point they still have some serious bitter differences that need to be "healed." And that is of course assuming Peter is Walter's son... :P

i reckon they got a little closer this last episode. Walter did something that completely broke Peter's trust, but then they had that little heart to heart about their past. Peter may never trust him fully, and still hate him, but i think the more they get to know each other again he might call him dad anyway.

Well, Peter is certainly warming to Walter - the scene were he puts his arms on Walter's shoulder near the end of 1.06 was rather endearing.:o

I agree it was so sweet, but I dont think that Peter knew he was calling him daddy though. He was obviously in some sort of trance.

i love Walter and Peter together.... but I think it will be a while before they get a "tight family bond" feeling.

If you count Peter calling Walter "daddy," I guess you called it pretty close.

Haha, definetly too late for this poll. Peter was adorable ( if not looking adamantly stoned) when he said 'Daddy?' to Walter :) It's also kinda funny/sad that that's when Walter knew he was past gone ;)

i thought about this thread as soon as I heard Peter calling Walter daddy :D
I thought it was sweet too, and even if he was drugged I think it counts anyway..... but I'm looking forward for him to do it more...."consciously"...

Yeah. And it's more of a hidden conciousness thing too. Like deep down he really wants to call him dad, but his stubborness and pent up anger won't let him.

I was happy to see Peter fighting for his "father" at Saint Claire's.

:yeah:ditto, it many ways that meant more than calling him "daddy" whilst out of his mind in 1.07.

I think 'dad' will come out of Peter when he doesn't himself expect it. There'll be a moment and it'll just be natural and spontaneous. But yeah, I think it'll happen and there, at that moment, will be a breakthrough of some kind for both of them.

Oh, love this thread (therefore, maybe babble, sorry).
I, personally, like this because it reminds me of my own life. I haven't called my father "dad" or anything like it since I was seven. I think for most people who call their fathers by their names early on, it's a matter of the fathers doing something that makes them realize they don't respect their fathers or want to have as close a relationship to them.
I don't think, even if Peter called Walter "daddy" without being out of it, that it would count as much as saying "dad." Dad is a more mature term, which would imply that it's not just Peter picking off where he left off all those years ago, but it's him honestly re-evaluating his relationship and desiring closeness.

Hi, I'm new to the site, it's nice to find some "Fringe" followers.
Peter saying "Daddy" was so sweet. Sure, he was high as a kite and wouldn't remember it, but it was a very touching moment.

I'm sure something dramatic will happen to Peter and Walter, one of their lives will be placed in danger, Peter will have a change of heart, and then, extemely dramatically, will call Walter Dad.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Something like one of their lives placed in dange, one of them getting hurt, or Peter being forced to leave in order to keep everyone safe, all of which will lead to an emotional scene with Walter.
