Its pretty much steady as she goes as far as ratings go, I thought we might have seen a boos from the appearance of Eric the Actor\Midget from the Howard Stern show, but those numbers may show up in the DVR\Online\Download ratings. As we can see Fringe and Bones have a steady viweship that seem to sway very very litle one way or another. If they can hold out past GA coming to an end (Fringe might) then it might pick up some more live viewers.

Thanks for posting as long as Fringe can hold a steady 5M I think it will be safe for renewal. What other show can Fox put in that slot? I can think only Glee or Pop Idol could seriously compete with Greys and NCIS on that night. Whilst it deserves a larger audience because its such a great show I kinda like that it is off most people's radar.

Coming off a series with intense popularity and media attention (LOST), it continues to baffle me that a serial show of as high quality as Fringe isn't more popular. To its credit, however, it does seem to get a disproportionately high amount of attention among venues of entertainment journalism, showing that people who critique entertainment for a living recognize how good it is.

^ The same would be true of LOST after just the first two seasons... worsening as it went along. The good thing about Fringe is that you don't have to know all of the characters to enjoy an episode (kind of like X-Files), although you will miss subtleties that make it an even better experience.
Speaking of LOST, I wonder how many former LOSTies are watching Fringe? Especially after a few other series met their demise, one of which had a LOST star on it.

Well considering the other shows on tht time slot Im guessing that many Lost viewers are wathicng what they always watched on that night. There has been little change in the ratings (unless the DVR number siginigantly change) for live viewing, so the people that watched last year and the year before are still watching and\or people are leaving and the same number coming in.
I also agree that many people would be lost on the mythology, but if you noticed they have slightly extended the background intro scenes to allow people to play catch up with the highlight reel.

in response to the 5.2 million and the show will be okay comment don't bet on it!!! everybody who loves this show must try in what ever way they can to increase viewer ratings and or dvd sales. I am in the uk i get all my friends and
colleagues to watch it and i have bought both seasons so far. We all have to try our best because i think fringe is the best show on the tv right now and if they cancel it i will be devastated. You guys in usa should try and increase the ratings!!!

I've watched Lost and Fringe since their premieres. Though... I don't really like to talk about Lost anymore. To me, lost is like an ex that I had a very bad falling-out with. Then she went got into drugs and crime, and then got arrested and disappeared. In other words, yes, I'm one of Those Guys for whom the finale completely ruined the show. Lost... is lost to me now.
So all the more reason for my continued devotion to Fringe. There was an article somewhere on Gawker a few weeks ago (io9 or Gizmodo, I forget which) about how exactly TV ratings are calculated and how Nielsen more or less admits that the numbers are pulled out of an ass. With the internet, DVRs and even torrents the old model of ratings is entirely fubar.
But be that as it may. Come hell or high water I will be in front of a TV on Thursday nights.

I actually was not a fan of "Lost" or anything Abrams-related at all, and after hearing great word-of-mouth about "Fringe", forced myself to watch it despite the Abrams association. And I then fell in love with it.

yeah i read the same article. The system IS fubar but sadly it is still in place so the viewers and networks are still held hostage to a point by them.

i'm on the fence about this... you can definitely still enjoy it, but i've had to explain multiple things to others who happen to catch an episode of fringe with me, and they're always left with question marks floating about their heads or saying "riiiight" as i explain that there are two universes and peter was kidnapped and no that's not the "real" olivia, but i guess they're both REAL...
for example, the red/blue intros... we all know that it signifies which universe the episode is taking place in, or at least starts with, but that must mean nothing for a lot of people.
i just hope the intricacy of the storyline this far in doesn't end up causing damage in the ratings.

Fringe gets a pretty decent boost from DVR viewing. Here's part of what ************************************** said on Friday:
"Fringe’s ratings last week weren’t awesome, with a 2.1 Live+SD (same day DVR viewing) rating with adults 18-49. Last night, the preliminary numbers were worse with a 1.9 rating with the 18-49 crowd. But this is the year of special Live+3 DVR ratings reports which are available well in advance of Live+7 ratings. I hope to have the full ranker for premiere week shortly, but Fringe definitely saw some lift on a percentage and absolute basis, going from a 2.1 live+SD rating last week to a 2.8 Live+3 rating with adults 18-49."
And here's the rest:

And, while this may not necessarily equate to a ratings level that guarantees renewal, it does mean that the show has a larger audience than live viewer ratings indicate. Plus, FOX knows it has the show scheduled on a really crowded night, but at least there are people who want to watch the show enough to record it!

Fox has to understand that Fringe fans watch this show differently than, say, CSI. I rarely watch it live - almost always later that night, but primarily on Friday or Saturday night (when I have the time to watch it at least three times in a row!). This is a "must-DVR" show. Hopefully, FOX will crunch the appropriate numbers to understand the show's value.

i wish DVR ratings counted but in reality they don't as much unless it was a CRAZY amount higher.
What is REALLY shows the network is that there IS an audience for the show but they have it on the wrong night.

yes I agree they should have kept it where it was or even try it again on Monday night but there's no doubt Thursday at 9:00 is definitely wrong a show as good as Fringe shouldn't be performing at a sub 2.0 demo. I really hope Fox sees the potential despite the low ratings.
