I thought it was great that the writers paid attention to the tattoo issue and eliminated that by having Newton use his epidermal restoration device. But I'm curious about something...
this tattoo--is it something that AltLivia and her lover back in the alternate universe had exclusively, or is it something that all of their Fringe division people have inscribed on their person? If so, why and what does that tattoo symbolize?

They've made enough of a point of it that I'm sure we'll be told eventually.

Well I don't think her boyfriend is Fringe division? So it can't be that. When I first saw the tatoos I thought everyone from the other side had them for some reason. But we've only ever seen Altliv and her boyfriend with them.

Is it possible everyone over there receives one, as to ID them, from people from over here? Also hence Show me's, because secretly the goverment knows their at war. Perhaps they are also chipping people?

We will find out eventually. In one of the interviews the producers actually mentioned this as one of the things that would be expanded on this season.

Probably not, since Henry the cab driver made a comment when he noticed it on Olivia, indicating he hadn't seen anything like it before.

It wouldn't be Coretxiphan in that case, as that particular drug allows for the enhancement of perception (and, consequently, the travel between worlds).
Walternate wouldn't need Olivia's power to cross over if Altlivia already had her own, so it has to mean something else.
Here's to hoping that the significance of the tattoo is subtle, but reasonably important.:happy15:
