This is good news:

http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/10/25/in-dvr-ratings-some-shows-find-good-news/

"Similarly, two hold-over series, “Parenthood” on NBC and “Fringe” on Fox, saw their numbers increase by more than 40 percent when the delayed viewing was counted, moving them from endangered species to likely survivors."

Wow this is great news. I expected this, but it's very good to see. I still wonder how this really helps since these viewers clearly skip past commercials. I'm sure it's more complicated than that, but to me this still may not help.

Product placement. Everyone sees it...not sure if it helps Fringe though.

There was a study that said that a surprising percentage of DVR viewers do not skip the commercials (http://www.switched.com/2009/11/02/dvr-viewers-watch-commercials-help-ratings/), or not all of them. So DVR viewing is a little less valuable from the advertising perspective, but not worthless.
