I switches back and forth between CSI and Fringe from week to week, and I just wonder is there possibility that this kind of Sci-fi show can survive if there's no ultimate showdown

I mean like CSI, maybe there's a series killer story in a particular season, and there might be some connections between individual cases from different seasons, but there's no big picture (ie, finding earth in BSG or finding the mystery in Lost)

Actually the best part in my opinion about Fringe is the first 13 episodes when Olivia shared memory with John, I think they are the most sci-fi episodes of the whole series so far and the relationship between the two are just so right and the plot so convincing, at least scifi-ly

And Fringe have wonderful standalone episodes like the plateau and inner child

after watching 6955kHz, and thinking about the rating, I was little disappointed that the writers chose to explore the parallel universe, and ultimate-like question about the first people, I'm not saying this kind of choice is doomed for failure, just after 6 episodes, I found the writers fail to fulfill this potential, the two universe plot so far is not uninteresting, but unrealistic and unimaginative

When thinking about being realistic and imaginative, Milo does not need the help of the first people to conduct his calculation

I have so many questions about this episode but find myself not interested to get the answer on any of them, this is the lowest point in three years

I wonder if sometimes when a show introduces a power that can do things beyond our capabilities- and with no logical limit-we kind of lose interest because it is like a wild card that can explain anything.

I'm thinking of the light in the island and Jacob on Lost, or the First People here.

We need limits and rules that we are familiar with to use in figuring out a mystery. If we don't know the rules, or there aren't any, we have no way to think about it.

Fringe, just as Lost, is what I proudly call Nerd TV. I love the mysteries, the clues etc... but I think that fans set themselves up for deception because they forget that after all it's just a show, and it offers so much more than most of anything else out there. I have personally made that mistake with Lost, and I will not do it again with Fringe, basically, I'm just there for the ride.
Just my opinion...

The ultimate question lies within.

Who said that?
