I know this is a bit offtopic but to me why has Sam changed so much from previous episodes? He seems to have gotten older or that could just be me...

About the bowling balls in Concentrate and Ask Again Sam rolls the blue ball into the red ball. But this time we see the red ball knocking into the blue ball so was the machine suppose to be activated on our side first?

I think this was just mirco-earthquakes, small tremors that caused the the end bowling ball to clank into the rest. The writers are just having fun making them red & blue to screw around with the fans.

I thought the exact same thing! At first I thought it was Walternate communicating with him because of the whole "A Demons Twist Rusts" thing and when he went into the back room I was damn sure he was going to pull out one of those typrewriters, haha.

Anyways, somebody earlier request a screencap of the bowling balls so here they are.

Red, green, blue. And the opening credits were green or blue-green.

i noticed he looked older too. i wonder if that's linked to his comments in earlier seasons that he is older than he appears. maybe that's catching up with him quickly?

His hair looks a bit shorter, that's the only different thing I see. Doesn't seem older to me.

It's hard to tell from that screencap, both balls on the right side look greeninsh against the blue wall in the background.

Yes, I noticed Sam looking a bit different too, but I think it's just because Kevin Corrigan got a haircut since the last time he appeared on Fringe.

Looks like Red, Black, Blue to me. Each one has a little bit of yellow on each of them.

For the LOST fans out there, Brandonate is talking about building a lead cage around the machine in the beginning of the ep, and he calls it the "Faraday cage."

There are also green-green-green-red lights flashing behind Walter and Peter before Peter goes to the machine.

A Faraday cage or shield (named after their inventor) is a type of shielding designed to block static electricity coming from the outside.
