Default Both Sides of the Equation Must Balance

In the Season Two episode, "Jacksonville," Walter said,

"The universe seeks balance. We sent a car over there, so a car of equal mass came back. Now, a building from the other side appeared here. The laws of physics demand both sides of the equation balance."
Fauxlivia has just discovered that Walternate is willing to destroy the Blue Universe as a means of somehow saving the Red Universe — but does anyone see a major flaw in Walternate's "logic"? I'm a bit surprised that Secretary Bishop himself doesn't see it; after all, he's the one who said,
"Nature doesn't recognize good and evil, Phillip. Nature only recognizes balance and imbalance. I intend to restore balance to our world. Whatever it takes."
Perhaps Walternate's own vengeance may be blinding him to the full implications of what he's preparing to do.

If, as our Walter said, "The laws of physics demand both sides of the equation balance," then what happens to Walternte's own universe, the Red Universe, if he is successful in using the Vacuum Machine to decimate the Blue Universe?

This adds a texture of prophecy to Carla Warren's grave warning to Walter in the Season Two episode, "Peter":

"We both know the amount of energy required to create a portal will forever ruin both universes. For the sake of one life, you will destroy the world. Some things are not ours to tamper with. Some things are God's."
    Your thoughts?

I believe the implication has been that the two universes have been on a collision course since Walter's actions and only one will survive. I think that is separate from the act of sending something here over there and getting something back.

I wouldn't hold the producers for this show at their word. There's been a lot of leniency on many many things and I wouldn't expect the explanation for this to be any different.

I remember Walter also saying this season that the laws of physics can be opposite. Like in "Os", Walter said it was impossible to combine the two elements that were making the men float. When Walter separarted the substances, instead of heat melting them, it took freezing them.

He said to illustrate the point, "What is up, is down, what is left is right..." or something close to that. Something like a mirror image of reality. In a mirror, everything is backwards right? So I'm wondering if Walternate is considering this in his plan. That if he kills our world, the opposite will happen in his and be healed.

If everything is opposite, could it be that whomever is to operate the machine be different as well? Once it is activated, I mean? We know that there is quantum entanglement, i.e. two objects at a distance affecting another in some way, as we saw in "6B". That episode featured a man and a woman, each married to the other's alternate but the other one is dead. Could it be that once a machine 'piloted' it must have a "complement" or "opposite" on the other side? Could it be that Peter would be on one side and one of the Olivia's on this one? So if it is operated on one side, red side, by Peter's DNA, then it could be Olivia's in this one? It would prove something of what Sam Weiss says that which ever of the Olivia's he chooses or is available, the her world be saved.

The only result of Sam Weiss's equation that balances is:

0 = 0 (i.e. Both Red and Blue Universes destroyed, or All universes destroyed???)

    Alternatively, the better equation is:

1 = 1 (i.e. Both Red and Blue Universes continue to exist, or All universes continue to exist???)

My second thought, as Walter might say, is:

    2 + 2 = 5, for extremely large values of 2 .
