Well, this was a pretty wild ride!
So much to speculate on. Have both universes merged and propelled Peter into the future? Or did he end up back on his "normal" side, the Red universe, but with that one now altered? Either way, why 15 years in the future? Strange...

That may have been the best ending I have ever seen on TV. I may be forgetting some of the Alias endings, but that was amazing! I did not see ANY of this coming, and that makes it awesome. Not one person could have predicted this.
That cliffhanger was so crazy I can't even imagine how they'll top it with the actual season finale next week!![]()

That was fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the live chat [and the mindless drivel I contributed] and 3.21 itself was a decidedly solid Fringe instalment.
I have to laugh in a way, Xevious described it as a wild ride and I have to agree. And yes, it's taking a while for my mind to unscramble and settle down enough to string a reasonably coherent sentence together as well. Haha.
Lots to think about with this episode, not sure what the point of Peter being lost was all about or that his awareness was that of alter-Peter. However, it did make for entertaining viewing. Now that Peter is in the future, with a great old-guy hairstyle, what actually is the purpose of the BBM in terms of what it actually does? Oh BTW, what's with the dramatic flashback sequence? Note: Tags added for those who haven't seen 3.21 yet.
Strong episode, shades of Season 1 thrills and spills, looking forward to the finale.

I think the dramatic flashbacks were showing which universe he was going to choose? Maybe. Hmm Or he was just getting his memories back in a flood?
I'm confused about something with the machine but it's not really enough to make a whole thread about it. So when Olivia controlled the other side's typewriter, the letters appeared on our side but the keys on our side didn't move. If the machine is the same thing, I understand how Olivia could open the other machine, but how did Peter get inside the one on the other side if he was over here? Also, why did the machine on our side "open" if Olivia was supposed to be doing it to the machine on the other side?
We saw a glimpse of this in the AU; Brandonate watched as the data for the Red Vacuum spiked and fluctuated madly. That is because she was turning the field off in the AU (and why the Blue Vacuum did not fluctuate at all). And because the Vacuums are Quantum Entangled, both fields were technically deactivated at the same time.
As for why Peter could enter the Blue one, well, that is simply a matter of convenience, isn't it?
(in all seriousness, however, I imagine that Quantum Entanglement is the reason).
