If its truly indestructable, it very well could survive the destruction and recreation of the universe around it, possibly even survive being torn into 2 (between 2 realities splitting.)
Sam seemed to reel off facts about the machine- if we believe him. He said it is "indestructible" so Peter should be safe inside. It is "not meant to be a doomsday machine"- but he doesn't say what it should be doing. It is not meant to be turned on in the red universe "first"- which sounds like it is supposed to be turned on in the blue, and turned on first.
I guess the indestructible is important-so it could survive being buried in pieces for who knows how long.
Not a weapon. So is it a device only meant to be a tool for Peter to view the future and change it? Or also the means of changing it? If it is meant for Peter, and for this side first, then it seems Peter is meant to be in the blue verse.
Any other thoughts on Sam's information?

just like what i thought man! what you said is possible by 90%Not a weapon. So is it a device only meant to be a tool for Peter to view the future and change it? Or also the means of changing it? Sam is the one who said that one world will survive!
i think i know. the machine makes peter God. haha. i'm just kidding.
since we have seen that the machine "brought" Peter to the future, it makes sense to believe it can bring him back. but where is it? is it on Liberty Island where they intended it to be "back then" (2011)? and even if he does go back because something "terrible" happens in the future and he needs to go back and change it, how will he know what to change? change which side he chose? or just not go into the machine at all? these cliff hangers are KILLING ME haha.
I definately just think its a time machine of sorts; Sloppy time travel could create an alternate universe closely aligned with the original, completely entangled; This would explain why there is just two of these universes, and not access to the whole multiverse, although time travel in one verse, would assume time travel in infinite other verses's, making a mess of the multiverse (multiverse of multiverses? hehe)
it was definately easier to think about when it was an AU and not time travel. This is getting verrrry interesting.

I think the machine is just letting his consciousness experience the possible future, I don't think there is any "real" time travel involved.
Just saw a cap of the marker in the crypt, with "Samuel Weiss 1742-1797," which means that the universes split before the era of Andrew Jackson? This was the first Sam Weiss? Then there is also on the marker what looks to be the pyramid with the all-seeing eye as on the dollar bill. I haven't seen anyone mention this before, maybe just missed it.
I had several thoughts about the symbol. One was that it indicated membership in a secret society, such as the Masons, in which often generations of one family also join--so maybe Sam is also a member of such a group. Then I thought that when he said that his ancestor was digging for mastodon bones, he found a First-People manuscript--that the manuscript was what Sam Weiss the first was after all along.
Evidently, I can find conspiracies everywhere ...
