new shapeshifters?

so now there's a new type of shapeshifters on This Side? were they created by walternate? is there a new enemy among them now? anyone want to put their opinions about this? theories?

I dunno. It was weird how the one who was a transit cop or whatever seemed to be trying to cure himself, and had some kind of brass . . . button underneath the skin of his wrist? And why did he rip that fingernail out? Hmmmm. . . . but then the one we see at the end seems to overcome the translucency, and seems more functional.

New shapeshifters, or another wave/variation, was the impression that I got. Especially with the Asian girl phasing in on the platform above the train tracks (at which point blue light flashed visibly at the bottom of the screen!), and Walter finding a shapeshifter-like disc during the autopsy.

-Walternate made them
-They mutated from the originals
-Someone else made them

I think I recall that they mentioned that they were "human" Shapeshifters, or more organic than their older counterparts.

Obviously, this brings up a whole slew of questions, namely why not stick to the older Shapeshifters, who, as it seems, are more efficient (i.e. they didn't leave thirty something bodies lying around).

They may be a wave of new shapeshifters that have become "lost souls" a la Peter, trapped/affected by the reset, while being "deployed". Still formulating that theory but perhaps the reset has more consequences/byproducts than just Obi Wan Peter.

ok, I know it's weird, but at first I was thinking the new shapeshifter was Peter... the shapeshifter seems like someone who wants become true, and resemble to Peter.... is it possible?

Ewww..... that's kind of a strange idea. Walter gets a shape-shifter to mimic Peter and then downloads his consciousness from the machine into the brain of the mind-blanked shape-shifter.
