"One Night In October"

Welcome to the clues and eastereggs thread for 4.02 "One Night In October".

This is a bit like an treasure hunt for the various clues that are intentionally (or otherwise) built into each and every episode of Fringe.



The clues are mostly visual and provide fun hints and major clues to the bigger picture. If you'd like to play along, please do so by sharing your observations in this thread!


Here are some ideas on what to look out for:

The Observer - usually hidden somewhere in the background of EACH episode.

The "Next Episode Clue" - each episode contains clues alluding to the nature of the following weeks episode.

I hate qualifiers on absolutes Fairly certain. Nearly perfect. Almost pregnant. The light switch is "nearly on". Well, then it's off. But I digress!

I have a hard time dealing in absolutes (though I have no doubt my alternate counterpart does so with finesse). XD

From Amazon.com about the book Limbus. Could it be indicative of a plot point for an upcoming episode? Or was it a reference to this very episode itself, the difference between the professor and the serial killer.

I don't know the glyphs, but if it's limbus (and I don't mean to be condescending in anyway, but I don't know if it's common knowledge)...that's probably a reference to the corneal limbus, which borders the white of your eye and the lens. It may be associated with rejuvenation: it's a common site for cancers, which I think indicates that it's the part of the eye with the fastest cell turnover or basal cells.

Indeed. One definition for limbus is that between the cornea and sclera. However this technical term probably originates in that of limbo, since it is a border or transient territory.

I have found other definitions for limbus as "limbo" so I think this is still a sort of call out to Peter being trapped in Limbo, as the phrase goes. Limbo (Latin limbus, edge or boundary, referring to the "edge" of Hell).
Remember, the glyph codes refer to the episode they are found within. It's no ROMAD, but I'm still sticking to the LIMBUS as limbo, or transitional region of the cornea as a metaphor for Peter being trapped in a border world.
