    Angry Faux-Walter / Faux-Olivia

What do you guys think of the erasing of Blue-Walter? It seems like all the peter bonding / emotional healing / becoming independent never even happened, and the past three seasons of character development were for nothing.

On that same note, what are your opinions on this new Olivia? She too is not the same character as Blue-Olivia, maybe not worse but as different as Red-Olivia was from Blue-Olivia. The old one is dead or erased or something.

Do you miss Olivia and Walter, or are you happy with their replacements? Are you as pissed off as I am?

It's much to early to determine if the 3 previous seasons of character development was for not. We're 5 episodes into a 22 episode season so we've barely gotten a taste.

The contrast between the characters we've known and the characters that are currently being played out on the show is quite apparent though. If it's a permanent change then I think I would be rather disappointed. But something tells me we'll be seeing the familiar Fringe characters before seasons end.

I think the writers have said in interviews that this is for keeps :/

Well it's not like they'd willingly tell everyone what they're up to. What writers, producers, directors, and actors or anyone involved in the creation of any television program have to say during interviews or tweets or Facebook posts and such should always be taken with a grain of salt.

I also thought early on it was said they would not deal with any time travel. Well uh,???

I also liked more Olivia and Walter from the first 3 seasons. they are clearly different now, I don't know why but I do think that we'll be seeing the past version of the characters as the season unfolds. I don't believe everything that the writers say in the interviews, they wouldn't divulge a thing like this.

maybe Peter has made a mistake and dropped into the wrong universe, and he'll find the right one and then we can go back...let's hope so!

I really doubt that they're going to erase the previous 3 seasons. I think Peter somehow traveled to a new universe and he'll get the Fringe team to find a way to send him back.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape. Even for those of you who've pointed out that the writers say that the characters will never go back to their blue-verse originals. I mean, Peter has returned, and technically that gives them all a second chance to revisit - for the first time - their cumulative relationships with him and themselves. Kinda like saying that in a way, yeah, given time and patience, they could all return to an "approximation" of what they were in the blue-verse simply because all of the right ingredients are present. (it's just that the bowl holding those ingredients, and the inclusion of new ingredients - like the hybrid shape shifters - are present now as well).

I agree. Walter clearly regained a good deal of lucidity when talking with Peter, no matter how much he also freaked out. Olivia instinctively trusted Peter as time went on (spoiler from preview of next week's episode) and next week proves she's closer to trusting Peter completely than Walter is. We won't ever get back to the way things were, but we are going to get pretty darn close in very little time, I think.
