And how am i any different than those who watch just for John or Anna? And even I do watch Joshua jackson, wouldn't it kill people to give him some credit?

    Yes, PaceyWitterLover. Yes it would.

I guess people place more value in their own survival than in concerning themselves over how little (perceived) screentime or recognition a particular actor receives.

I know I do, at any rate.

(I know the negation was an unfortunate typo, but fun>substance in this case).

You may not care about Josh's success but I do.

It's not about the success of any particular actor or actress; rather it's about the story being told. I can guarantee you that all the actors on Fringe are dedicated to giving their all to the story. Success, then, is merely a side-effect of practicing one's craft as an actor. Money, mainstream recognition, critical acclaim; all of these are merely means to an end, and this end is the opportunity to pursue the passion of acting.

Though if I may ask, why are you invested in the success of Joshua Jackson? And what is your definition of 'success', for that matter?

Cause I don't want to see him doing reality shows and being seen as a "has been" or "never was". I mean, if casting directors were to go off only Fringe, casting directors would not really give Josh a chance since he is not given much to do (because of the story"). Sorry but casting directors want that critically acclaimed actor with awards under their belt not an actor who has a very "quiet" role.

I mean, its getting annoying seeing Josh have the "quiet" role while john and anna have the "hey look at me" type role. Nobody notices actors who have quiet roles.

This is why i don't understand why they bought back Peter, a character who has no double, who has no revelance anymore (all of that was given to Olivia ( It was Peter who was destined to die when he went into the machine but now its Olivia? Come on, the writers would never have Peter gain some of Olivia's uniqueness and specialness) and has to deal with dopplegangers. he will be overlooked and people will certainly stop caring about him cause he has NOTHING unique about him to care about anymore. ( I mean people cared about him when he was the kid who has to live, the kid from the alternate universe, the kid who was saved by the observer, the kid who was saved by the alternate version of his father, the man who was destined to be in a machine) and now bam, erase that from him just to have Olivia be "destined"?

So now, peter has no real reason to be back since he is not special anymore, Olivia is.

According to Josh's IMDb page, he has several credits as an actor, in roles ranging anywhere from minor to principal. Not only has he been acting since he was in his teen years (meaning he has plenty of experience), but apparently, he is still working on a few other projects in addition to Fringe (as seen on the page).

Clearly, Josh is still getting cast in other roles despite his role on Fringe, so I don't think he will ever be in danger of sinking to the depths of reality television.

Because of this, I think your hypothesis that casting directors only look for A-listers with dozens of awards falls short of reality. Granted, he is not as mainstream-popular as, say, Robert Downey Jr., but he is still working, so your concerns about him losing his credibility/ability to land roles due to poor are unfounded.

Unless you have other reasons why JJ's "success" is super-important, I think you may have to start considering re-examining the reason you watch Fringe (if JJ is the only reason you watch, that is).

Over on Fringe Bloggers they had a poll for 2011 Fringe character of the year. Guess who won with 55% of the votes...Yep, Peter. Perhaps your narrow viewpoint prohibits you alone from recognizing the true importance of the Peter character while most everyone else sees it just fine.

This is an awfully odd episode to complain about Josh being shortchanged, since he got far more screentime than anyone else.

Not to mention that the opening sequence was all about his character's motivation.

Seriously though, Patty, did you have to open yet another thread with the same title? We got it the first time.
