Wow- good digging. A couple different references to the boy -one sounds like it might have been Peter.
Not sure about the HA /HR connection.
Has anyone re-read Walter's lab notes from The Arrival recently? They all but lay out the plot for The Equation, esp when combined with the lab notes from The Equation. I think it raises a whole new set of questions about who Walter really is, esp if he appears to know the futureHe also alludes to the WalterEgo I think as the Bearded Man, mentions the pearl in the oyster, returning to get his box of secrets, everything. Hmmm......
I'm also wondering if the Phi Chi Psi Omega Walter mentions has anything to do with the pattern we noticed in the St. Claires communal room?
And then there is the broken mug with H.A. on it (someone noticed it on another forum). Is there a connection to the HR on the outside of St. Claires?
This show is driving me nutz !!

Wow! That is quite a connection! Goodness! I think I'm going to back and crossreference all of Walter's Lab notes. I didn't even know about them till I joined this forum!
"There was something important...Oh! I've decided on the pancakes. Blueberry."
I too just went back through all Walters notes. He frequently mentions the "visitor" saying he is a hungry kingfisher, plucking thoughts. He also mentions the visitor as the bearded man. who needs another pearl. His notes from ep. 8 seem to show him talking to himself or "Alter-Walter" (term coined by another poster for the other Walter we see at St. Claires)
and discussing the visitor. I believe that Walter may have a synaptic transfer or phsycic connection with a few people. Walter hints to Peter that there are other means of communication and we've seen it in use with Olivia/John. Who is the bearded man? Many have speculated that Bell is involved. I don't think so Bellie would have had the same knowledge as Walter before Walter was locked up. Bell probably had a hand in that though (more on that later). My thought is that a group is using fringe technologies and St. Claires to access Walters mind. The drugs he is given at the hospital probably play a role in others being able to acess his mind and therefore finding his research used to create the pattern. Now that Bell and MD know that others/competitors are trying to access Walters mind and therefore the same knowledge that Bell and MD have they are trying to put a stop to it by using the FBI DHS and Olivias team. So MD may not be so sinister, they are just looking out for corporate interest. Also as Nina said they drive US military decisions based on thier wepons tech. If another group/country (ZFT/Germany) would get ahold of this info that would be a huge advantage for them. Sorry for going on so long, Walteritis.
So, questions this raises:
1) Who is the bearded man? Who does he work for?
2) Who is "alter-Walter" ? A figment of Walters imagination or a phsycic connection with another human Walter ala Olivia/John?
3) Did MD and US govt facilitate the release of Walter? Is this why Broyles was dragging his feet about sending him back in?
4) If this is truly epionage among corporations and governments, how much more does Peter know? Is he involved much more deeply than he lets on for $$ reasons?
Woah, these are fine connections, great stuff guys!
At the time I thought Walter was referring to Peter when he mentions the "boy" in the episode 1.04 Lab Notes, but the connections mentioned above do seem to point to it being Ben whom he's referring to.
It's funny, throughout this latest episode, I got the feeling that Walter a younger version of Peter in Ben (the accident, his musical talent, etc). Perhaps why he was so motivated to save him?
I'll need to give this new development some thought. Nice work peeps.
That's exactly what I was thinking, D-Roc. I think thats why he was so involved in this case- because maybe his guilt for whatever happened with Peter motivated him to save Ben, as if saving him could make everything better..It's funny, throughout this latest episode, I got the feeling that Walter a younger version of Peter in Ben (the accident, his musical talent, etc). and great observations everyone!![]()
Because what you see really depends on what you're looking for.
Help me out, please. Where is everyone finding "Walter's Lab Notes"?
Yeah, well said cmcg - I think guilt is the word to describe itIt was still very brave of him, and I hope he feels good about what he did.
You can get them from Fox. We also have a central thread containing all of his lab notes and our thoughts so far.
Hope that helps!![]()
If you havn't found them already by this posting, I find them through here:
To the immediate right, just click on which episode you want, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page it brings up. They are usually at the bottom.

I got the feeling Walter was looking at Ben with the same affection he must have had for Peter as well, and that is ultimately what we are to be lead to believe was his motive for going back to St. Claires. Now whether or not he had alterior motives (like getting the box of secrets) ....
I also *kind of* assume the bearded man is still AlterWalter. I mean, he had a beard in St. Claires right? If this is so, then that would lead me to believe he is either projecting his residual image onto an actual person he is seeing in St. Claires, or he truly is hallucinating the delusion of seeing himself (since the AlterWalter we saw had no beard).![]()
