Actually, he did not have too much data. Walter, the smartest person he knew, kept telling him that it's wrong and that he is in the wrong place and Olivia didn't exactly tell him the opposite. She wanted to be with him because she had memories where she loved him and he loved her back and this made her happy but she was also unable to explain what is happening and who she really is. Peter also didn't have access to the data the audience had to decide that he is in the right timeline after all, such as the fact that the writers wouldn't be focusing on those characters all this season with them being different characters than those from S1-S3 and the Observes talking about the boy being back, 'back' implying he is in the same place he was removed from.

He did consider the fact that he is home at the beginning but once he saw how things were here it was too painful for him to just come to terms with the fact that his original timeline is gone forever and he is condemned to living in this place where no one remember him and no one cares about him, and everything he built has vanished.

I would say it would have been utterly incomprehensible if he hadn't tried hard to make sure if his original timeline still exists

I think they added the whole we are home scenes sort of because if you think about we wouldnt grow to care about the new characters somehow . We would feel bad because for episodes we are not HOME as well and we were pissed . We would. And in ep 13 we would be NOOO y aint her stop it {well we did but whatever} .

I think they added the scenes to avoid further frustration and for us to see things different . Well the experiment caused more drama since we were spilted in two parts he is home no he is not !! I dont judge Peter so far for listening to walter and staying away its frustrating but even though he saw it was her , instead of going with what his heart told him he decide to stay away for better in order to make another mistake once more [aka he doesnt believe he can make a right choice ] .

As for September to declare to him she is your Olivia i think it was once for Peter [ to be 300% sure ] and for the audience to have zero doubts.I suppose when they wrote the ep they knew the frustration we had with is these people ours or not .

As for Walter saying that i suppose he prefers to ignore the possibility that this boy might be indeed his son. The Bishops have issues with seeing the truth . Both hurt and damaged with their choices. I think the line be better man than your father it was spot on. But again i wanna see FINALLY Walter despite he receive his memories [ not so likeable ] to accept what is happening and accept Peter is indeed the boy from the other side who crossed over and saved. Their dynamic was obvious on ep15!!

Right. In that case, I retract my previous comments on this matter.

As for the rest of your statement, I generally agree, though I wasn't too bothered by it. After all, it isn't the first time characters are altered to suit the plot, and it probably won't be the last.

I don't think Peter was substantially different. Throughout the series, he has accepted Walter's explanations for all scientific questions. When he's "proactive", it's more to point Walter in some direction than to solve things himself. How much is lack of context, education or discipline, or pure laziness is up to your judgment. But Walter refusing him and Walternate confirming his childhood death left him certain he did not belong.

of course he might hav considered that he was in the right time line and although he had lost olivia and walter, he had his real biological parents the nice fluffy walternate and his caring mother....but he never seemed to evaluate this either, just dismissed it. if the script writing and characterisation is worth anything, then this renewed relationship should be explored- with the parallel that as peter finds his real family, olivia loses her so she can have peter, just as peter gave up his mother to be with olivia/faux....mums are dispensible clearly...
