What they didn't tell you was that the future is polluted with nagging women, so all the male observers are desperately trying to escape.

There has been some talk about this in the fandom since 4.14, I think, when we September confirms that the Observers are scientists from the futures. As to why neither the Observers we have come to know or these "Occupiers (they don't all seem to be scientists) seem to ever be women, two main thoughts crossed my mind.

    1) In the future, women are excluded from or sorely underrepresented in roles in law enforcement, politics, and science. We haven't seen any people of color in these positions either, which makes me suspect that women and minorities are even further marginalized in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) disciplines and other positions of power than they are today.

    2) I really don't know enough about gender theory to speculate on what may have happened or to express myself clearly, but 600 years from now there will be a different culture and society, and maybe the gender binary which fallaciously dominates our current society will be further deconstructed in the future or gender representations will otherwise deviate from what we currently associate with "men" and "women." I think this is an unlikely explanation, but I want to point out that there are limitations of speculating about the culture in the future from our perspective living in the present.

The Short Version: It looks like in the future an even higher percentage of people in positions of power will be filled by white men than today. We don't know enough about the roles and representations of gender in the future to understand why all Observers and Occupiers (I don't know what name we're going with yet) seem to be men.

I thought I caught a glimpse of women 'observers' when Etta & Simon when into the city with Walter.
They appeared to be accompanying the male observers and were in fancy dresses... maybe they were just humans...

Oh god, it was Sliders.... Ugh, that was the shark-jump of that show, for sure.

if we're wondering why all observers are bald pale males, we can further wonder why there's not only no females, there's no one with darker skin, differently shaped/colored eyes, mouths, noses, etc... perhaps somewhere in the multiverse there is a home where others of this particular genome reside and look different.
