Alt. Nick Lane seemed pretty okay being dosed with cortexiphan as an adult, he didn't keel over and die or anything, soooo . . . that's pretty consistent with the properties of cortexiphan as we've understood them, no?

When was alt Nick Lane given Cortexiphan? I thought it was LSD Walter gave him?

I know right? Pinkner and Wyman have been taking this rewritten timeline thing and running with it. "We can change any thing we want willy nilly! Rewritten timeline! TROLOLOLOLOL!"
As they're getting Alt-Lane set up with that encephalogram equipment Astrid is busy hooking up a bag of cortexiphan to an I.V. I watched the scene twice to see who's arm the I.V. was hooked up to, it was Alt-Lane. But yeah, he got some LSD too.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, because Cortexiphan wasn't given to subjects in the alt-universe at all in the old timeline (was it in the new one?) to kids until Olivia crossed universes the first time and they decoded the chemical compound inside her. According to old timeline, only children could tolerate the Cortexiphan because they were young. Adults given Cortexiphan keeled over and died. So I was thinking, what's up with that? Alt-Lane should have died or had some really bad side effects or something.

I dont think they gave Nick cortexiphan, he was given LCD and used a bridge to find the other Nick - by Olivia, who was given cortexiphan to easily access her powers.
I can't find the episodes where they talk about adult trials of cortexiphan use, but if I remember correctly, they only ever said cortexiphan treatment on adults could be lethal. So that's reason to believe one dose of Cortexiphan wouldn't kill alt-Nick.
When did they say that? I don't remember. I don't think that adults have any problem in being dosed with cortexiphan. I remember Walter saying in 'Ability' that they had to try the cortexiphan in children to prevent the natural shrinking of brainpower. The drug didn't work on adults because their mental abilities have already been limited. It was as simple as that, cortexiphan doesn't work on adults, but it is not toxic at all. I think that Alt-Nick won't have his mental abilities increased by being dosed in this episode, but maybe the cortexiphan can facilitate mental connexion between Olivia and Nick, as seen in 'Bad Dreams'.
Cortexiphan treatments did lead to deaths in adults (along with no results). However, with the way they use Cortexiphan, those treatments are over a long period. So they get multiple doses of the drug. I still maintain that receiving a single dose wouldn't cause anybody harm, and it was the coupling with Olivia's ability that let alt-Nick see his counterpart. It's all plausible to me.
Walternate did tests on adults in E03 S13 Immortality. On that test, 9 subjects died 30 minutes after injection. The youngest one survived to get a second dose and got telekinetic abilities, but died soon after.
But our Walter created the cortexiphan, and understood exactly how it worked. So I suppose, unlike Walternate, he knew how to safely inject small amounts of it into adults for short experiments like this.
