Interesting theories!! This question woke me up at 6am! Was Bell behind all of Jones' action in season 1 as well?? Part of me doubts it, but I'm not sure if that's just because I liked Bell and I wanted him to be a good guy! I have a hard time believing he would have given his life for the others if he had the same intentions at the time. At the same time, Olivia was given the light box tests in both timelines, so if that was Bell's idea, it must have been him both times. I guess it could have been Jones' input. Part of me wonders if the writers sorta didn't think about this stuff and just made up the Bell timeline 2 stuff later. But I do have a little more faith in them than that (or at least I want to) so I keep trying to find the reason in it! What do you think?

Before Jones attempts to cross over and is subsequently cut in half this brief dialog between he and Dunham occurs:

OLIVIA: Don't! (she shoots him once. barely phased, he rises and continues. she shoots again)

DAVID JONES: (not as injured as he should be from his gunshot wounds he turns and addresses Olivia) The teleporter, it may be killing me, but in the meantime, it's made me something rather special. You see, your bullets just go right through me. And soon Doctor Bell will see just how special I am.

As I recall, Jones was portrayed as a disgruntled genius with a score to settle with Bell. Are you suggesting that this was a ruse? Even if it were, one would think that if Jones was complicit with Bell that he wouldn't want to mention him at all so as to throw Fringe Division off his trail. . .

It seems more likely to me that Jones's intelligence network would have been responsible for uncovering the location of the coveted power source. Regardless of the nature of their relationship, Jones was clearly obsessed with Bell (in both timelines), considering how well connected Jones is (FBI agents with ZFT connections at his beck and call i.e Loeb and likely others), not to mention the rest of those responsible for acquiring the tech necessary to release him from prison (the disray). With this kind of intelligence at his disposal it seems possible that he might have learned the whereabouts of this coveted power source by other means than straight from the horse's mouth as it were.

    Thoughts?
This is a great point I hadn't thought of! I think that maybe in the timeline where Peter Bishop hadn't existed, and he wasn't there to cut Jones in half by turning off the portal, Jones met up with Bell and they ended up joining forces then?

I think it's worth noting that there there are similarities and differences to the light test in 1.14 and 4.14.

    Both times:
-Olivia can only control the lights when Peter is near

    Differences:
-In one timeline she turns the lights off, in another, they are turned on
-In one timeline they appeal to her love of Nina and Peter, specifically, to engage an emotional response. In another, they threaten the lives of many strangers and appeal to her guardian instincts.
-In one timeline the lights appear as little bulbs. In another, they look like little bells.
-In one timeline she has a fake test first, where she finds the box in a storage facility--which has been a motif. It forces a recall of "ask yourself, why Broyles sent you to the storage facility".

I wonder if bellivia slipped Peter a soul magnet into his Tea as well when he was inside of Olivia at the bishop home. If true bell might of went along for the ride with Peter into the future and recalled his journey. Young peter? 47 year old peter in 2026? Maybe no connection but, if Peter was erased maybe he was astral projected by bell. Bell said he had seen the future repeat itself many times as well. If a soul is the body of Olivia and Peter, I don't think it could be fully erased due to the imprinting on the souls.

Like September said it was impossible for Peters return and really had no logical explanation. Unless of course it was September who cared and loved Peter like August loved the girl which brought Peter back.

So if Peter, Walter and Olivia had all taken Soul Magnets for the sake of Bells endgame it could make some since how they ultimately remember Peter as well.

Peter and Walter should break out the chalk board for some scientific math to figure this out mhhhh

Possibility for both actions to have accured. I like the idea of Peter and Olivia both being duped with soul Magnets to bring her conscious along with bells conscious forward to the new timeline
