FRINGE CHARACTER "FALL-OUT" CONTEST



"Many will come. Only one will survive"

Welcome to the Fringe "Fall-Out" contest! Over the past 3 months of Fringe being on air, many fans from around the world have argued the positive and negative merits of the characters. Some have claimed Olivia to be their new "heroine", whilst others have lambasted her as being sullen, dull and uninspiring. Others have anointed Walter Bishop as the "Einstein of our times", claiming him to be a "genius"..some even going as far as to say that he is the only reason for them watching the show. His detractors are not so forthcoming with adoration however. They cite his ethics (or lack of) as being detrimental to any bond they hope to form with him.

These contrasting opinions are not restricted to our main crop - from Loeb, to September, to Gene, to the ellusive Dr. Bell. People have strong opinions on these.."Fringies".

This is where "Fall-Out" comes into play. This contest will give us a conclusive "hero" (favourite character, "best of bunch", call it what you want) of the first 10 episodes. The king or queen (or animal) of Fringe season 1, part 1.

Shortly, members will be invited to help compile a list of all the major/influential characters that have appeared in Fringe so far. Once this list is complete, each character will be randomly paired with another character.

Then, from Friday Dec 12, the first match-up will be posted in THIS forum. Each day a new match up will be posted, along with character battle cards (pictures of the respective characters), some accompanying text and the all important poll where fans from all around the globe are invited to cast their vote and opinion on who they think is the best character from each match-up.

Each match-up will remain open for voting for exactly 24 hours.The winner of each match-up will progress to the next round where their fate awaits. The loser will be knocked out and consigned to Broyles' dusty cabinet of unsolved "Pattern events".

The tournament will continue until the final, where only TWO Fringies will be left standing. The final poll will remain open for two whole days for fans to cast their vote and opinion, on who will be the Fringe Fall-Out Champion!

For some characters, it will be a case of 'how far can they realistically progress'. Getting past round 1 would be a 'mini victory'. But for others, only winning will suffice.

Extra notes:

• There are eight 'seeded' places open for this contest. These will go to the eight main characters in the show. This is so that the 'main characters' cannot get drawn against one another in the first round - after that, anything goes!
• The list of character entrants will be listed and updated in the post below this one. Please feel free to suggest character entrants so that we can compile a complete list and do not miss any characters out (God help us if we forget Gene!).
• Feel free to post any questions in this thread or to discuss this contest in this thread. Seperate threads will be opened in this "Fall-Out" sub-forum for the tournament 'ladder' (if anyone is adept at making such things please let us know!) and individual match-up threads.
