Default Joseph Smith, Walter's Breath, and Previous Experiments?

In the repeat of 1.07 In Which We Meet Mr. Jones last night, I notices some curious statements that I did not think much of before.

    1) When Walter has Joseph Smith on the table, connecting wires, he touches Smith's head and says, "It's amazing how much his scalp resembles . . ." and then trails off. I then realized that Smith is partly bald (I think he might have some hair around the edges). Someone working on the show said that it is not coincidence they have so many bald people )Broyles, Observer, Smith....? Oh, and I'm sorry if someone has previously posted this!

    2) I could always remember Walter desperately needing gum, or mints. Does anyone know WHY this could be?

    3) Peter states that Walter experimented on him when he was younger, attaching wires to his head. If this thought was sparked by Peter seeing a dead Smith with wires attached to him, then couldn't Peter have been dead when Walter did this?
I have been somewhat involved in discussion about Walter cloning Peter. What I've been thinking is that Peter knew that Walter did this, because he shares Peter's memories. Another event to enforce this is in 1.04 The Arrival, where that man who wanted the cylinder (I don't know his name ={ ) questioned Peter about the location of the cylinder, even though he didn't know it. Then the man says, "Thank you, you just gave me the answer." I think that Peter "knew" the answer to the question because Walter knew it.

And, just thinking aloud, was that man who wanted the cylinder bald?

STRATAGEM CLUE: If you are looking at this, then you have either solved the previous STRATAGEM clue or you are looking at this by coincidence. If you have previously looked at the Dutch language, you will notice the translation was partially incorrect. However, what the translation made clear was to go to this thread for the next clue. What the translation was meant to say was that the picture for the promotional poster was taken while Kyle was in the Stratagem. So, your next instruction is to solve this equation.

2y + 3x = 30 <-- In this equation tell me the x-intercept and y-intercept. Your next step is to take one of answers and go to that number thread of mine. You must take both answers and check. For example, if the y-intercept is 7, go to my seventh thread. However, my seventh thread may not have the next clue. So you will take the x-intercept, say it is 19, and go to my nineteenth thread. Start now.

    Nice find!

I'm thinking that eventually we'll see something about how baldness relates to everything. It was mentioned elsewhere that Smith was partially or, perhaps, nearly bald. Maybe this means that he was on his way to becoming fully bald (and therefore more like The Observer or Broyles, in whatever sense they may be related)?

Jones knew Smith. If Jones wanted to ask Smith a question, then Jones could assume that Smith would be captured by the FBI in order for him to cooperate. My theory is that Jones was looking to dispose of Smith somehow, and making the FBI go and get him became the perfect solution. Why Jones would want to get rid of Smith I don't know... maybe he had become a danger to all that was about to happen? Not needed anymore? Knew too much? Who knows.

As for the guy who interrogated Peter (I think he's known as "Rogue"), we could assume he was either as bald or balder than Smith. He wore a beanie for the entire episode (with R-R-R-G on it), so we don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was in fact at a certain stage of baldness.

The entire show is one big Rogaine ad!

I believe they may have shaved his head before trying to wire him up to Peter

    A few things you missed:

Smiths head was in fact shaved before those electrodes were attached, as the poster above mentioned. Walter said "it amazing how much his head resembles..." and Astrid finishes his sentance by saying "Peter's bare bottom" Walter then looks at her suprised by how she knew what he was going to say and she tells Walter he already said that. And Peter does not have memories of being experimented on he deduced that Walter had used him as a test subject because Walter told him his(peter's) brain had a very low threshold for electricity and the only way he could have known that is if he had expirimented on him before.

And as far as the mint/gum thing Walter always asks for something (ex. blue cotton candy, root beer float, etc.) in every episode so I doubt that was anything significant.
