SHE'S been tipped as the next Cate Blanchett and is media mogul Rupert Murdoch's niece. But Anna Torv, right, knows too well what it means to live hand to mouth as an out-of-work actor.
The Australian star of the new BBC series Mistresses
, which began on Channel Seven on Tuesday, said she resented being associated with her billionaire uncle, whose former wife is another Anna Torv, sister of the actor's estranged father, radio broadcaster Hans Torv.
"I hate that that even comes up," Torv said. "I've been estranged from my father since I was eight."
Torv also will star in the pilot for Fringe
, a series by the creators of Lost
. But she laughed off the suggestion she was "the next big thing".
"I'm at home with my mum and she's angry that I haven't done the dishes," she said.
