Anna Torv On Murdoch Link

SHE'S been tipped as the next Cate Blanchett and is media mogul Rupert Murdoch's niece. But Anna Torv, right, knows too well what it means to live hand to mouth as an out-of-work actor.

The Australian star of the new BBC series Mistresses, which began on Channel Seven on Tuesday, said she resented being associated with her billionaire uncle, whose former wife is another Anna Torv, sister of the actor's estranged father, radio broadcaster Hans Torv.

"I hate that that even comes up," Torv said. "I've been estranged from my father since I was eight."

Torv also will star in the pilot for Fringe, a series by the creators of Lost and Alias. But she laughed off the suggestion she was "the next big thing".
"I'm at home with my mum and she's angry that I haven't done the dishes," she said.

How odd that must be considering William Bell and all... Knowing this, you'd think this show is a complete LOCK to never get canceled. You know what they say, when you Uncle owns the network...

She must get so sick of reporters asking her about that. I can imagine it's pretty awkward when you haven't had contact with your father since you were 8. I doubt she's ever even met Rupert Murdoch if she hasn't seen her dad for that long, it was a pretty nasty divorce between RM and her aunt from what I've read.

I guess that's the downside of becoming 'famous', no skeletons left in the closet, can honestly say fame is the last thing I would want!
