Thats great that they are moving to Vancouver. We have a really great filiming industry here.I know I shouldn't be really looking pumped that they are moving under these conditions. @_@ I hope this works out for everyone.
sourceThe loss of the state tax incentives for film and television production has claimed its first victim.
Fringe, the hit show on Fox produced by Warner Brothers, is packing up its sets and moving to Vancouver, Canada, for next season. Members of the crew were informed today.
The show, which will finish shooting its current season here by the end of April, employs around 100 people and spends more than $4 million an episode in New York City.
Sources say Warner Brothers began shopping for a new location a month ago when word got around that the state’s tax incentive program had run out of money. Gov. David Paterson tripled an existing tax break to 30% of production expenditures last April to compete with similar offers in other states. The state allocated $685 million to fund the program through 2013, but the incentive was so successful that it ran out of money in less than 10 months.
Now the film industry is fighting to get the program re-funded in the upcoming budget, expected to be announced April 1. But damage has already been done.
Employees of the show had hoped Warner Brothers would at least wait to see if the tax credits were renewed. “We’re all fighting for our livelihood and nobody understands the rational,” said Beth Kushnick, set decorator on the show. “Why is there collateral damage when they don’t even have the word about the tax credit?”
A Warner Brothers spokeswoman declined to immediately comment.

Hmm..I'm fine with it as long as they don't change the set drastically. If Walter's Lab all of a sudden changes, I will not be happy.
Hmmm .......I'm sure a guest cameo by Richard Dean Anderson will be in the near future then .....

Another article about the matter:SourceEW has learned that Fringe, J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi series on Fox—which is set in Boston but films in New York—is planning a move to Vancouver, Canada in the event that it is picked up for a second season. In a statement, Warner Bros. Television tells EW that "in this challenging and uncertain economic environment, we have made the very difficult decision to move... We did not come to this conclusion easily, but economic and practical imperatives dictated that this decision be made in a timely manner." It is believed that the decision to relocate is due largely to the lingering possibility that New York state’s film/TV production tax incentive program, which just recently ran out of funds, will not be replenished by Governor David Paterson. According to Stuart Suna, head of Long Island City's Silvercup Studios—where Fringe currently films—the program's $685 million budget, which was put into place in April 2008, was initially expected to last until 2013. But because of its popularity, "all of the allocated money was used up. So many productions came to New York. It was more than anybody expected."
With the potential expiration of these tax incentives, the future shooting locales for certain NYC-based shows—like 30 Rock, In Treatment, and Life On Mars—remain in limbo. The problem is compounded by the fact that in the past week, California and Ottawa each made aggressive moves to court productions with their own tax incentives. EW can report, however, that neither Ugly Betty nor Gossip Girl will be exiting the Big Apple anytime soon; they were fortunate enough to file their applications just before the piggy bank emptied.
EW will follow this story as it continues to develop, so keeping checking back for updates.
