Fringe’s Astrid isn’t exactly the most important person in the lab. Walter can’t even seem to get her name right when asking for a beaker. So when will the character, played by Jasika Nicole, get more than two words in a scene? “First season her character was slow to build,” Nicole admitted to TV Guide Magazine at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation annual Hot Pink Party in New York April 29. “I have been told that Astrid will have her chance to shine next season.”
“She is mysterious and smart,” she says. “There’s obviously a reason she’s in this lab.” And that may include a secret connection to Olivia. Do the two women share a Cortexiphan habit? “I’m not saying that,” laughed Nicole, who wore a Christian Siriano gown to the event where guests, including
30 Rock's Jane Krakowski, enjoyed a live performance by Liza Minnelli.
What the actress can say is that the May 12 finale has the best script of the season. “The creepiness factor is really high. It has to do with something that everyone single person has thought about at one time or another,” she says. “There are also a lot of answers about Peter. And they are very satisfying.”
