Every second counts when a strange, almost-otherworldly parasite mysteriously attaches itself to the internal organs of a dying FBI agent. With a life on the line and strong suspicions of a Pattern connection, Agent Dunham rushes to Germany to meet with an imprisoned man who reveals disconcerting details of a much larger threat. Meanwhile, Peter and Walter attempt to help Olivia by tapping into a dead man’s brainwaves.

Although I gave "Ability" the Best Show of the Year award, there are several reasons this show is my favorite.

First, the best two pieces of Fringe science, even if one of them was more funny than fascinating. The heart-hugging parasite (that made noise, no less!) made me laugh everytime I saw it. Yes, yes, they could have done better with the open chest wound on Chance Loeb. I can't defend the lack of sterile technique and the monster infection Loeb would contract, but if the bugger could make noise, maybe it could secrete it's own antibiotics. I'm game! What a delicious complication to have 'roots' growing up the IV tubing. As a health care professional, that was a true, Ewwwwww! moment.

But the other piece of "Fringe" science, OMG, talking to the dead! Wonderful! Icing the body down and hooking up an unfortunate Peter with the electronic headgear was just too cool. Then to have the particular type of brain damage manifest itself as a lack of horizonal lines. Peter's stabbing his pen on the paper like the vertical lines meant something was another very cool moment, once he connected the correct horizonal lines.

I've been hollering in the wilderness, if the show and or the cast doesn't want Peter and Olivia to get together, the show gave us a WONDERFUL might-have-been romance in the form of suave and self-effacing Lucas Vogel. The only problem now would be that inbetween "Twilight" movies the show might not be able to afford Billy Burke. But if they can replace Rachelle Lefevre as the vampire Victoria, they can replace dear old Dad in that movie franchise, then Billy Burke can decide his Broadway career can be put on hold, and we got us a Romantic Interest! And your precious Cortexiphan Siblings can remain P&O's primary relationship!

We got to meet the delightful Jared Harris, we've been practically promised to see him again as one of the few Alters I'd be happy to see, and, who knows? Maybe the David Robert Jones of the other dimension is a good person! Wouldn't that tickle some fans' fancies?

Lastly, when Walter woke Peter up from Peter's drug induced euphoria, he got the sweetest "Daddy?" out of Peter Bishop. The Peter Bishop hardcore fans couldn't help but "awwww" over that. I hope next year we see more endearing moments from our favorite con artist. We already know Jackson can play angry. I look forward to seeing him also play more sweet when the occasion calls for it.

Shedding your Benchwarmer identity so easily? That's too bad. After the clearly non-sibling interactions they've already had, it would be creepy to think of them as siblings. My brothers and I have NEVER looked at each other that way.
And as they've said it is going to happen--though not fast--is this because you prefer Billy Burke to Jackson, personally? (it's a no brainer for me that Peter is more suited for Olivia, Vogel is too smooth and buttoned down/happily bureaucratic) and I can't get past thinking of the original Billie Burke)--plus finding Jackson much more attractive. . . personally.

No, no I'm not. I just get a little aggravated when, like in another quote from the Comicon, Joshua Jackson said the Walter/Peter, father/son relationship was the relationship in the show he held most precious.

You'd think he didn't want that romance with Peter and Olivia!

And he said, as a part of maturing, that Peter would learn to protect his family. And when he said family, he put his arms out on either side behind Walter And Olivia's chairs. Tell me he doesn't think of Olivia as a sister!

p.s. *sigh*, I know. I get a little discouraged about my P/O romance. I'll chalk it up to the August blues.

Oh, I saw that; I think since he is estranged from his own father, and that he and Noble are dear to each other, that is the relationship dearest to him ON SET--in a way like Peter just re-uniting with his own father. And that would come first, before romance, if he had always desperately wanted a father. Since that seems to be the case both with Peter and Josh, that's how I read that.
(His parents divorced and what, his father fell off the edge of the earth?)

Man and wife are family, if Peter and Olivia married they would be family, so I am not reading sibling stuff into that.

And I do think they want to work more on his character first, and storylines ---some of that writers' fear of romance, I think. I'm ok with waiting for it to develop (and be able to last) rather than just having it as an excuse for them to have sex and then a stormy breakup, which would get in the way of the storylines, for one thing.

Just toss us a little eyesex from time to time, and benchy scenes.....
