The Observer lures Walter to the Dark Side?

Ok before you are angry with the title let me explain..
We have no idea that Observer is evil. I know that. He just observers.
BUT let's make a hypothesis. We know that the Observer rescued Peter's life (or as I believe after Peter died, the Observer brought Peter from the alternate dimension to Walter) so Walter know have faith and accepts Observer as a special being. So IF the Observer turns out to be a bad guy (remember it's a J.J.Abraams show, so anything can happen) can you imagine a huge twist where Walter will join the dark side of the series whichever that is? Will that will be a bad thing if that happens? Post your ideas about this.

I don't think there is true good and bad in the Fringiverse, just power and survival.

My theory is that both dimensions and their coming war is being manipulated and controlled by the Observer. Or not him directly, I believe in the Observer is an employee. Of whom, I do not know.

But also remember that Walter, while damaged, is still a genius. It does not sound like a genius to take a side solely out of gratitude - he is a calculating man. More likely, the prospects for Walter working for forces with less regard for human life and rights could be illustrated by Alterwalter (we better hold on to that name), not the one we've come to know.

Also, I think it's important to note that a major part of Walter's role is to be the comedic character - could he do this from a 'darker' role? Maybe. But likely not.

Sometimes both in real life and in movies the genius figure turns to an evil side more many reasons (fear,anger,hate,love for loved ones etc). Not only the average minds choose sides.
As for the comedic part yes you are right about that. But remember that J.J. Abraams makes this show. A major twist can happen.

remember what has happened with Locke and his major twist, and ofcourse I know that this isn't the real Locke and is another person but still there was a major twist (I didn't like it cause I like Locke), but ofcourse I don't know how involved J.J.Abraams was with this. Maybe it was an idea made by Lindelof afterwards

I agree with you Montecito about genuises being portrayed as villains, or somewhat compromised figures in movies and television shows, which is why I love the fact that Walter is both very clever and one of the good guys, he comes across as such a good, decent and innocent person to allow himself to willingly cross over into more darker and murkier territory. I mean, look at that scene in the graveyard at the end of the season. This is a man who has taken a child, albeit his own but from another universe and raising it as his own, a decision that appears to be tearing at the fabric of his soul (congrats to John Noble for that graveyard scene, he was incredibly heartbreaking) and I would hate to see that goodness and innocence and most of all heart compromised just so the show can gain a villain.

Then again, he has an afilliation with The Observer, could this lead to a darker path in later episodes?

That's why I made this hypothetical theory. It's only hypothetical because we don't know the Observer's true plans and intentions. But I am not so sure that he will be a good guy that some users think. I think he will turn up to be villain. (ofcourse I could be wrong).

I think it all depends on his motivations doesn't it. Why does he appear whenever the Pattern is at work, what does he get out of it? Oh JJ, why do you trouble us like this? Don't you know questions like this keep me up at night.

If Bell, Broyles, Nina turn out to be good, then someone must be a villain.

I think it's a bit obvious to make Broyles and Nina the villains. As for Bell, well, we'll have to wait and see, won't we, I don't think we know enough about him, and his motivations at the current time are a little murky. There could be another unseen villain that is still due to make an appearance, but that's just a theory.

Interesting what you said about the Observer's observations habits at the moment. If he is a villain, he could be analysing pattern activity for some action that he will take in the future, although what that could be I don't know.

I would like for Broyles and Nina to be in the good team but if they would turn out to be bad I would still like their characters because I find them very interesting and with very good script. I also like the actors that portray the characters. Good job by them!

As for the Observer I would make a hypothesis that he maybe is an alien and he collects information before he contacts the other aliens to start the war (not necessarily a war against humans, maybe against Massive Dynamic?).

I know it is an extremely unbelievable idea and that many fans maybe won't like the idea of aliens in Fringe. I say this because Losties hate the idea of aliens in Lost. But personally, I wouldn't mind if the Observer was an alien (I think he is).
