Also, after doing a little research I found that Dr. Penrose is also named after the famous mathmetician Roger Penrose who popularised the "Penrose Triangle" in 1950. This is more than a mere coincidence. It also ties into the leaf glyph which has the triangle as it's symbol.

An impossible object. Whilst this can also relate to science (MD) breaking through all impossibilities - it may also relate to the Fringe slogan - "Imagine the impossibilties". It's also an optical illusion, which ties in with the duck/rabbit illusion from episode 3. Nice!
