I don't see how it's a big deal airing a season 1 episode in the middle of season 2, especially when the show's still on hiatus for the winter holidays. Sure, it can be a little annoying to those who need things in chronological order but... it's a scrapped episode to begin with. People should be lucky to have the chance to see it at all.

That aside, I thought the episode was interesting in several ways: 1.) Walter going nuts when his ideas were being challenged by the priest, and 2.) several nudges at both Olivia & Peter about their relationship. Could it be that the writers were thinking of pairing the two and then changed their mind, thusly deleting the episode? Or maybe the themes on faith was too much for execs at Fox to deal with, just like what happened with Miracles on ABC all those years ago... *grumble*

All-in-all, I enjoyed the episode even though it didn't further the overall plot of the show. It was, however, pleasantly entertaining.

Come on guys, this is obvious. Shapeshifter Charlie went forward in time to film this episode and then went back with the knowledge that he had been written out. He tried to stop this, but JJ said no and said he could come back as real Charlie when they had filmed the resurrection episode in series 3 (where Charlie, John and original Bell are brought back from the dead). Hence, the Charlie we will see is still the dead Shapeshifter, although in series 3 it will be revealed that it is original Charlie, who went back in time to prevent...ahh, but that would be telling.

    Wow, these mushrooms are strong.

Okay, this is by far the longest flashback I've ever seen in a TV show.

At first I thought it might have been around the time when Shifty had taken Charlie's place, but it makes sense now that it's an older episode. Not entirely happy with the ep, but I guess that just makes me more excited about Thursday!

I knew that it would be confusing for the viewers. They should have delete the scenes with Charlie. I blame the producers for this confusion.

...or they should have announced that it was an unaired episode of S1..

Not every Fringe fan comes to Fringe-Forum or visit sites in internet. So a lot of fans maybe they didn't know that. That's a very amateur move.

I haven't seen the episode yet so I don't know if they said it what it was airing.

Default Season 2, Episode 11: Unearthed

Agent Charlie Francis was dead. Furthermore, in the 4th episode of season 2, Agent Dunham killed the imposter of Agent Charlie.

How does he appear in this episode (season 2 episode 11) again??? Is there any mistake or am I missing a point?

You are mistaken. For one, this episode is not from Season 2. It is an episode from Season 1. It did not air. Why else would the episode air on a Monday?

I was wondering, did anyone spot any clues about where in the season 1 chronology this episode would have been? I'm guessing it's before 1.17, but not by a lot since Peter is already quite comfortable being around Walter.

I thought he was killed off.

He was killed by the alien being. The alien being "Charlie" was killed by Olivia with a bullet in the head. I think Fox has put this out of sequence, which probably should be on the first season.
