I was thinking that after I posted. I think maybe they might of had a contract with him for one more episode, but she called him by name... I don't understand why they would do that to us viewers and confuse the hell out of us.

She called him by name because the episode was filmed with the rest of the season 1 episodes and was intended to air with them, but for some reason it wasn't and they decided to air it this season instead, as a special episode. They probably didn't realize a lot of people would be confused by Charlie's presence, and it was probably an oversight.

Why would anyone think that this is a leftover episode when there are so many clues to them being in the alternate reality. The real question becomes not why is Charlie there but if Walter pulled alternate Peter to replace dead Peter, why is there one in the alternate reality.

Its was filmed when they were making season one but because Fox wanted to pilot Glee it was cut. Hence the reason it was shown on a Monday not Thursday. A bit of mischief-making by Fox in how they marketed this episode so some believed it to be from the alternative universe, like your goodself.

Another reason why it wasn't set in the alternate universe is that Charlie didn't have a scar on his face, and alter-Charlie does.

at first I thought it was an alternate reality as well, that they'd eventually show new york and the twin towers, but then I started seeing trees(they had mentioned no flora left in the alternate reality remember?) and notice there was also no scar on walter bishop's neck from the transmitter implant he did to help Peter find him, and Astrid's hairstyle is still the same as season 1, and that if it was an alternate reality, according to end of season 1, there's already a dead peter in our world, so the other world has no peter bishop either as someone else already stated, also when they're in Agent Broils room, the desk is in the position of our world, to the right as opposed to against the window like the other universe.

It's not an alternate reality, just Fox being stupid..., Grrrrr Fox why do you have to ruin my series... WHY!!!???

It's not their intention to "ruin" anything for you. The way I see it, they gave us a gift by showing this episode that was cut from Season 1. It's just confusing if you don't know where this episode ought to be in the chronological order of things.

That's how I view it, as well, Rekka. It was a bit confusing at first, but showing this episode didn't ruin anything for me. I was happy that we were able to see it.

It goes to show how many fluff episodes are tossed in that are not part of the main storyline. None the less they are entertaining.

Fox did have the courtesy of airing the episode on Monday instead of on Thursday. Not sure how Fox ruined anything.

We still got all 23 episodes in chronological order.
