    Default Twin Peaks.

Did anyone here ever watch this show? The Complete Box Set is finally being released in Britain tomorrow and I can't wait. I remember watching it when I was very young and being nearly scared to death of it, and then catching up with again as a teenager when it was repeated a few times. It's a great show and the progenitor of all the great genre classics that followed like The X Files, Millennium, Lost and Fringe, not to mention it also features one of the great all time theme tunes.

Yeah, I was a massive fan. Great fan of anything Lynch in any case. I never really saw and elements of it in X-files or Millennium, apart from a generic mystery, not-of-this-world atmosphere.

One thing that those series never managed as well as Lynch did, was to incorporate sex into psycho-mystery. You'd think it was obvious and the Asian psycho-horror genre has been producing classics in this vein for years. Guess one has to be careful with TV, but Twin Peaks (I mean Twin Peaks!) must have slipped though.

It's not so much that the other shows were similar, but I really think Twin Peaks was the first series out of the gates that managed to make it acceptable for television to spread out story arcs and on going plot lines over several episodes, possibly even seasons acceptable, allowing television as a whole to break away from the shackles of formula and similarities, at least on prime time. In that way I think a lot of modern television owes Twin Peaks a debt.

Of course, if you're looking for any elements of Twin Peaks in The X Files, there is always David Duchovny as an FBI Agent, of course.

Definitely broke new ground - I remember all the commentators at the time saying it was impossible to follow who was real or imaginary, who was dead or not. That was when I knew it was for me

I know exactly what you mean.

I'm just back from my nearest HMV where I treated myself to the Gold Box Edition. God, I have waited so long for the second season to be released, I can't wait to get the coffee on and get the cherry pie ready.

    Shelley: Cherry pie?
Gordon: Massive, massive quantities, and a glass of water my sweetheart, my socks are on fire.

Pete Martell: Mr Cooper, how do you take your coffee?
Dale Cooper: As black as midnight on a moonless night.
    Peter Martell: Pretty black.

You can say that again. It truly is one of a kind, and let's not forget about the Tibetan Method of stone throwing to narrow down suspects. Classic.

I remember watching this show when I was young and absolutely bricking it when BOB came on screen! I seriously had nightmares about this guy but I still really really loved the show! (Audrey was my favourite!) I bought it on DVD about 2 months ago, rewatched it and loved it just as much if not more!

It did go a little wayward after they wrapped up the whole 'Who killed Laura Palmer' story midway through the second season (what a harrowing scene that was to watch!!) but I really can't blame Mr Lynch for that as it was the studios decision to force the big reveal early! So gutted the way it ended too before it got cancelled! I so would have loved to see where they went with that storyline!

    Brilliant brilliant show!

Thanks to the lovely MrSuperCzar for the banner!!
