    Default Scotland, PA

Ever read Macbeth by Shakespeare? Ever seen the play? The movie? "Scotland, PA" is a modern take on the Shakespearean murderfest. In the original play, Macbeth is told by three witches that he will be king of Scotland. After hearing this, he and his demented wife plot to kill the king and slowly take control of the country, and as this happens Macbeth is further "steeped in blood," his calm intuition slowly drifting into an anarchial insanity.

Scotland, PA depicts Mac, a worker at a burger joint called Duncan's, who eventually kills the manager (Duncan) in order to take control of the place. As Lieutenant Macduff (played by the talented Christopher Walken) investigates the murder, tensions rise as Macbeth becomes power-hungry and his wife begins insane.

To be honest, don't waste your time with this movie. Yes, it can be funny in some parts, but I think some of the characters were high (or perhaps the writers were) while doing the film. Some parts were so vague, it ceased to be funny. They drop the F-bomb way too much, too much smoking (bleh!) ... 6/10.

See though, this sounds like a potentially decent premise for a film - I mean, I liked the 1980s-era Romeo and Juliet - I wonder if they could simply have written it better. It sounds like they didn't have a lot of imagination when they filmed it.

Airbrushing Locke's butt was the wierdest thing I have ever done.
