Why does everyone seem to hate this episode!?! I thought it was really good, but I can understand why some people didn't like it. But do you really have to say how much you hated it on every thread? You have to admit that there were good parts of the episode, even if you didn't like the idea of a musical or a whole episode being a story. There was more to it than that, and it was showing the emotions Walter felt but in an entertaining way. 5.6 million isn't that bad, and I'm glad there were at least that many viewers. I thought there were great performances by all the actors, and it was really funny. If you didn't like it, that's fine, but is it really necessary to continuously trash it?

As for the ratings, I don't think the show will be hurt. Maybe first-time viewers will think it's a kind of odd show and won't want to watch it again, but as for people who have been following it for a while, I'm sure they'll tune in next week. Plus, first-time viewers might have liked it, and next week's episode looks really good. I think the ratings will go back to normal.

Perhaps we're just venting on you guys. But every time someone complains about it, not only is it usually in what may just be the most obnoxious way possible, it's also with very little explanation, and completely overly-dramatic. I swear, the negative reactions to this are so theatrical, you'd think the entire show has been completely ruined by this episode, when in reality, according to the ratings thread, only five people here really disliked it.

I'm sorry, Montecito, it's not that this thread in particular was full of bashing. It just seems like in every thread - save the "loved it!" thread - someone says how much they hate this episode. They of course have the right to say that, but as someone else just said, they almost never offer any explanation. Just "it sucked." I just sort of cracked when I saw your post expressing your totally fair distaste for the episode. I apologize for getting things off topic.

Let's just discuss the ratings from here on out. 5.6 million... I'm happy that despite the recurrence of Grey's, The office and CSI, that we're pulling decent numbers.

And also, let's be glad we've been renewed for Season 3. Getting an early renewal is always good news. So let's just enjoy the last three episodes, before we get into a crucifying 4 month break. I know I will be going crazy.

I don't know why I got yelled at there. I said my opinion in the dislike thread, which I believe that thread is for. And in here we were discussing how this episode will hurt the momentum, and possibly affect ratings. I hope I am wrong, because I want Fringe to succeed!

No one was yelling at YOU. Just in general. The negative reactions to this episode are so incredibly dramatic that you'd think the entire series will be ruined by one episode. I mean, honestly. I admit that it was a "you either love it or hate it" kind of episode but it's not as if the Fringe world is going to crash and burn because of it!

45 minutes of whackness are not going to ruin the entire show.

More popular shows have been ruined by less than 45 minutes of what we saw. I think people are upset because they're concerned for the show. No one wants to lose Fringe but we have to face facts (like ratings). After this episode I'm seriously concerned the Season 3 extension could be withdrawn. Even if it's not, after an episode like this, I would be surprised to see it last longer than half of it's third season. That really sucks for those of us who really like the show.
