Default The Walking Dead Season 1

The Walking Dead's Zombie Slayers, Revealed

by Tim Surette TV.com Staff Writer 07/15/10 10:44 AM

"Can I hype this show enough? Apparently not. AMC's The Walking Dead, which once seemed like an eternity away, is lurching onto YOUR television screen this October. Production is already underway on the six-episode first season, and the first full-cast photo has now been released.
Let's just say this: It's awsome.
The new pic shows our heroes in the flesh-and-blood: Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Sarah Wayne Callies looking great as Lori, youngster Chandler Riggs as Rick and Lori's son Carl, and newcomer Steven Yeun as Glenn.
Many of the actors seem lifted straight from the comics that serve as the inspiration for the show. We're still waiting on our first look at the show in action, though.
Thanks to io9 and Circle of Confusion for the image!"

I watch it, and loved it. It's premiere got huge ratings, best of the year for a cable show. Over the 3 showings the first night, it got over 8 million viewers. The only complaint I've heard of was that it was sort of slow. I agree... but that was the point. It's not an action packed zombie thriller, it's a story about people and how they deal with a zombie apocalypse.

If you're interested, I highly recommend the graphic novels that the show is being based off of. The first episode basically covered the first issue. There have been 77 issues and a new one still comes out every month. The author is Robert Kirkman.

I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to the 2nd episode. My wife has always hated anything related to zombies and refuses to watch, which is a bummer because I love watching stuff with her & discussing it.

Just saw the first episode and loved it. Definitely one of the best new shows this season.

I watched myself late last night and it reminded me of the film 28 Days. I not really an big horror fan and I have to say it did put me on edge throughout especially when he was crawling under the tank at the end. I will keep on watching but I might have to rope my other half into watching with me.

I liked the first episode, creepy

One question though: what are the real episode lengths?

Quite surprisingly it is on German TV just a week after the US can see it, but they screw us on the pilot with a disemboweled version (original is 65 minutes play time while the German cut is 45 mins, it's disgusting).

Now that episode 2 is available, I can only find a 45 min version and wonder: is the original play time also 45 minutes?

The play time for episode 2 is about 45 mins. I liked this episode, not as much as the pilot, (Shane and Lori, ewww) but it was good. I thought the scene where they were chopping up the body was gross, and I loved the scene where they were walking through all the zombies covered in guts.
Here's a link to Robert Kirkman (creator of the comics) talking about episode 2, there are a few spoilers though.
