    Default Whispers!

I was watching the Peter torture/interrogation scene again, and there are faint whispering sounds that can be heard as Rouge (the hunter guy) extracts the location of the cylinder from Peter's brain. They occur just as he gets the location of the cylinder from Peter. Is anyone with who is savvy sound equipment able to decipher or extract any details from these whispers? Perhaps there are some hidden details if we amplify or reverse the sound?

The whispers might simply contain details of the cylinder's location, but it could be useful to decipher the exact message.

I didn't hear any whispers, it sounded more like static to me. It would make more sense if it were whispers though.

I didn't hear them, even when I watched it the second time. But after you said this I watched that part again and it does sound like whispers...

I don't have any fancy sound equipment for what you want, but hopefully someone does!

I don't have any fancy sound equipment, but I did manage to capture a few WAV files from the show. I increased the volume by several hundred percent so they'd be a little easier to hear, and also one of them has been reversed.

I increased the volume on the part with the whispers even more.

They definitely sound like whispers, but I couldn't pick anything up from either of them... Maybe someone with some better-trained hearing can pick something up.

(Caution: Turn your volume down a bit before playing, as they can be extremely loud at some parts)

Thanks for these Berix - good job!

On the reversed (2nd link) I keep thinking that I can make out a sentance - it sounds like a womans voice (which would make much sense since these are presumably Peter's thoughts!). Perhaps i'm hearing something that's not there.

Anyway, it's good to have the whispers confirmed. Maybe someone else will have better luck picking up any coherant sentances..

Has anyone figured anything out about these? I know there are whispers in Lost, and when reversed, most of them actually have some sort of dialogue in them: http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Whisper_transcripts
I think the ones in Fringe most likely have some sort of message. I'm also pretty sure I heard them in another episode, but I don't remember which one, does anyone know about them?

the 2nd link sounds like a chorus of voices near the middle, one is definitely female sounding but i couldn't ever make out any words....

Could it have been the Pilot you're thinking of - when Olivia enters the dreamstate? Although those were children laughing than whispers, still, it's interesting how they're planting seeds with audio.

EDIT. Also, I haven't checked, but I've come to the conclusion that the whispers Peter heard during the torture scene were the thoughts from his father, telling him where the cylinder was hidden. Peter probably wasn't aware of the whispers, but I think this would be a good way for the writers to depict their mental communication linkage, thingy.
