maybe they just edited the script and that's why they had to record that part of the conversation again and that's why...
I don't if anyone has mentioned this already, but this scene reminds me of what Henry says in "Olivia." He mentioned he was in a bad place and his wife (I think?) had to tell him who he was. When I first heard that, I hoped that Peter would have to help Olivia remember who she is, and here it is.
Would be interesting if people have been imported and Henry was one of these imports, injected with an alter Henry's memory. Can't see any reason why they would do this unless the army needed funds and private citizens could pay for their loved ones to be returned.
I think Olivia is seeing Peter in his navy pea coat because that's how the likes thinking of him most: an adventurer, just back from travelling the world or ready to embark on a new Fringe case.
And that's because: Peter isn't Peter, he's the part of Olivia's mind which has survived the memory treatments and will remind her of who she is. How is it happening?
An idea popped into my head, borne from Sociology class:
There's a sociological theory proposed by George Herbert Mead that the development of the human mind, the sense of "Self", comes from two different parts which are complimentary: the "I" and the "me".
The "Me" is the socialized aspect of a person, what they learn through the environment around them, society, and their sense of "self" that come from how their outward identity to the world (are they a man or woman, old or young) is seen by others, by observing the responses of others to their appearance and actions.
The "I" is the response to that concept of identity, how we respond to the expectations of those around us, how we're supposed to act, expected to act. It determines our own degree of freedom.
What if the Cortexiphan managed to augment Olivia's "I" aspect, letting it stay intact enough to survive and remind her of who she really is? Over time it will reach out and show her what the truth is to her situation?
Perhaps eventually she'll have Altivia's memories plus her own sense of self, and just in time to make the trip back to our dimension...

I totally noticed this. i think possibly because i'd watched it 100 times on youtube.. but hey.he Peter/Olivia love theme during the kiss.
Olivia did heaps of drugs over the last few seasons. Lsd mentioned frequently. Flashbacks are an effect of lsd. This would aide Olivia's Ego/subconscious in breaking through.
I got to thinking about this again today. The memory treatments have obviously only masked original Olivia memories, so somewhere deep down her original synaptic connections are intact. Now, her conscious mind is under the control of the injected memories, but I'm sure her subconscious is under there, still firing away (I wonder what her dreams are like?). So, I'm guessing that random neurons are firing and the brain has to make some sense out of the signal: voila! Peter! It's like in "The Ghost Network" when electromagnetic signals were making poor Roy's brain go haywire, but it still had to produce some meaningful output, because that's what the brain does.
This made me happy: so see that part of Olivia's brain is still fighting for her. Walternate, I think, is being arrogant to assume that his treatments could replace our Olivia's psyche so absolutely. He will pay! Mwahahaha!![]()
