I'm still of the opinion that Peter is on to Altlivia. The last scene, although it looked to be the case, did not confirm that they did the deed. I am hoping it the ultimate way to get her vulnerable and then beat the snot out her. Guess we have to wait and see.

And Newton is going to be missed. All the really bad guys get it in the end. I guess it's what they deserve.

Mayyybe shapeshifter Charlie was having so much trouble with his body because he shapeshifted at the speed of light! So he didn't form properly? Thats probably not correct, but its just a random thought!

Hey guys. It's my first time to post on here. But I've been a visitor to this amazing forum for quite some time now.

Anyway, I guess this episode just made me finally decide to publicly declare how proud I am of this show. That was just awesome writing, directing, and acting. The opening sequence was just a thrill to see. And the whole theme of getting attached and developing deep emotional connections despite one's mission or even despite one not belonging to a world or to a person was played out really well and mirrored the various storylines of Fringe in the past, present, and future (e.g. Walter-Peter, August-Kristine, some shapeshifters as shown in this episode, Peter-Altlivia, and possibly Olivia-other world's Fringe Team, to name a few). Just a really multi-layered experience that I daresay you rarely get from a TV show these days.

And like some of you, I do mourn the demise of TJ Newton. He was a beloved arch-enemy and I was really sad to see him go. But I'm trying to see the silver lining here and remember that our first introduction to him was as a frozen head who was put back together with an infusion of mercury. So I'm really hoping we haven't seen the last of him.

Also, I've been wondering about the Walter-Peter dynamic, particularly in this episode. It seemed like they were back to being on good terms again, which I found a bit strange, given the wounds that have yet to heal. Though it was nice seeing them interact like old times (which is one of my most favorite things on Fringe), I suppose I was just expecting to see more discomfort, unease, and awkward moments between them, which I think is the more realistic type of interaction at this point. Anyhow, we could probably just chalk it up to Walter being "high" for the better part of the episode which may be why Peter wasn't that distant and was even "supportive" just to help Walter focus on the task at hand. And it was just really heart-warming to still see that Peter really does love Walter despite everything. I love those two.

And another two I love is this. I have to admit that while I do want Peter and Olivia to end up together, I'm sort of enjoying the Altlivia-Peter relationship as well. I think, storywise, it brings more tension and conflict that I (only) hope will forge a stronger bond and deeper love between them (Peter-Olivia) when they sort all this out. There've been times when I gave myself headaches just thinking about how they will ever be able to fix things given all this baggage, especially with the next step that Peter and Altlivia took in this episode to further their relationship (at least in Peter's mind). And I confess that I've been stricken with worry and doubt more times than I care to share as to how they'll be able to go back and end up still loving each other even more. But as I mentioned, the silver lining's always there. I trust that the writers and producers have it all planned out and they will provide us satisfying and perhaps even gratifying answers and resolutions. They're just trying to give us one heck of a ride getting there. (As long as he doesn't get her pregnant, I can take it. But I gotta say I draw the line there. Sorry, that's pretty far-fetched anyway, right?)

Personally I was hoping for some insane twist where a shapeshifter killed Bolivia and took over her body.

LOL. Now THAT would make for some awkward love scenes!

^^This. So true. Yet another facet of Fringe that makes it so wonderful. The issue of "belonging" is a powerful one for me, personally, and after this episode I will be watching even more closely to see how the show handles it.

I'm no critic; I can only say that I enjoyed this episode most of the four so far. I pray the writers can keep up this level of quality through the rest of the year and beyond.

RIP, Newton. We'll miss your attitude. BOlivia may hate you, but she'll miss you, too.

She's getting panicky. A little tour on the "other side" may have seemed like fun, but she isn't qualified to keep it up for the long haul. She's a firefighter trying to be a cop and a flirt forced to follow through. Instead of being more like Olivia with time and practice, she's less so. Her body language screamed "nervous" throughout. I despair of Peter's intelligence, especially since the cafeteria scene indicated he's suspicious of too drastic changes in her.

Walter has new toys. Astrid gives him too much freedom.

Peter's keeping emotional distance from Walter, but the professional interaction is fine. He sounded pretty bored when retrieving Walter from the lecture, and he's always been laissez-faire about the drugs (except in "Earthling", when he threw away the LSD).

I think the shapeshifter-Charlie's problems stemmed from not having the shifting device. I think it helps maintain the shape as well as creating it. Why else would it constantly stream data? And Newton must have been a different model, since he didn't shift at all. I assume that the suicide-chip BOlivia gave him would wipe his hard memory as well, or it wouldn't do much good.

I'm pretty sure that Shapshifter Charlie's shapeslipping issues had to do with the device. Somewhere in that episode, or just after, they discuss having him "refitted" and updated but there's no time or something like that.

First off, alt liv clearly for me, dyed her hair recently, but she used a wrong tone of blonde. Its too blond... IMO.

Peter has a brain! Surprising, I know.

I'm surprised about the Shapeshifter and the feelings thingy. But, i thought they couldn't last that long in one shape. Apparently they can. I'm saying it, because of the shapeshifter that took charlie's form. He was dying or something. And the guy, the one from the episode last night, he's been 5 years in the same form, and nothing happened to him, same as newton. Could someone explain this to me?

I'm sort of bummed about newton. I kinda hopes he comes back. In Fringe, nothing is really dead. LOL

I don't like the fact that apparently walter's lab is now in massive dynamic. I like the old lab.

About the last scene, why did alt liv texted peter? She was either missing frank or trying to proof something because of what newton said to her. But there was no need to that last scene.

    Anyone shares my thoughts?
